This is what I'm currently working on. I'm checking all the moons/landable planets directly orbiting ringed planets
Just went back to the site to look for beacon number 5 but I had no POI so either you mean that purple circle which always spans the entire planet when are in supercruise in orbit or it was a bug or something I don't know, nothing persistent though and ruins still not show up as POI.
I noticed something else though. Did they fix that we can see ruins from further away when we set surface material quality to low? Because yesterday I was able to see the ruins clearly up until 7.5km when they switched to a lower res 2d texture but was still able to see them up until 20-30km height. Today I am not able to replicate that with identical graphic settings. They fade away after a few km.
Has anyone been trying this (I've been AFK for a while)? Just tried over the known ruins and there does seem to be a longer wait (3 vs 9 secs) for glide when I aimed for the ruins.
I doubt this, because it would be a PC only exploit, US Xboxers cannot adjust graphics settings
To Michael Brooks and all at FD,
After 10 hours of low flying over many beige craters I really can't cope with the Ruins lottery any more. Sorry, but it's just not any fun but tedious as hell. Why oh why do we have to search such an insane amount of System bodies?
Maybe after "X" hours of scouring a planet an incoming message from Ram along the lines of " Your data shows that this is not the planet the ruins are located on" would be a kindness to us CMDR's out there....
Don't get me wrong, I love ED but this is just my "2 cents worth" of how frustrating this whole thing is turning out to be....

supporting this, Because in this day and age, we should have the technology to pickp a signal or something,
If Rham was able to find those 4 systems on a network, then why can we not detect anything when in the systems!, it would be a hell of a lot stronger signal when your near the planet than 500ly away!

Due to the apparent ability of the FDev team to deliver engaging, fun, and really thought out gameplay regarding the ruins, I have taken the liberty to write them a $100,000 check. I taped it under the lid of a green garbage can in the lower 48 of the continental US. Enjoy, but spend it wisely...
He did it via analysing the data from the scans, not because he received signals or anything. But of course he doesn't tell us why he thinks the ruins are in those systems. He narrowed the search down to those 4 systems to find the other sites, that's all we got.
Ah good point,
I have not read the message today and vaguely forgot some details.
I am wondering now, if maybe we should review the transcripts from the original 13 obelisk's that worked, and see if there is any hidden messages
So space trees have been found not once, but twice on the same planet? That's awesome! I believe the stellar forge currently places three geyser/fumerole fields per planet, it might be the same with space trees, which would mean there might be a third field of space trees to be found there.
And if we triangulated the three fields it might point to something being at the center of them...
So a thought just occurred to me: what if we aren't even supposed to be searching for the other ruins, what if Ram Tah's hunt is just for something that might improve his understanding? What if the space trees were what we were supposed to find all along, not other ruins?
