Astronomy / Space Alien Messages? AI Breakthrough As HUNDREDS of Deep Space Bursts Discovered

only the express covering this? Didn't we have something like this a few months back and it turned out to be military comms bouncing around the atmosphere?

"Nice signal from deep space."

"How powerful do you think the source was?"

"Dunno, couple hundred times what'd happen if the Sun was a bit bigger and went nova?"

"Must be aliens."

No.

[h=1]Artificial Intelligence Has Detected 72 Radio Signals From a Mysterious Source In Space[/h]
Among the greatest mysteries in radio astronomy are things called FRBs, which stands for fast radio bursts. They are short, very powerful signals that often occur only once. Astronomers have been detecting and tracing the general location of FRBs for years, but according to Science Alert, 72 previously recorded signals of unknown origin would have gone unnoticed were it not for artificial intelligence.

The most logical explanation for FRBs is violent stellar events such as colliding neutron stars or even supermassive black holes, while artificial sources is a theory it's a pretty weak one. A lot of these FRBs occured billions of years ago at a time the universe was probably a little more dense (in that time the universe could of expanded by tens of million light years) so it was probably a lot more violent than it is now. Also if a civilisation could harness the power of millions of suns there would probably be more signs of their existence than a couple of random bursts.

However gutter/sensationalism press sources such as the Express sees the word "signals" and prints that these are alien signals.

and experts hope it could help decipher whether the signals are a result of extra-terrestrial technology.

Well duh. If they are coming from anywhere but Earth, then they are by definition extraterrestial.

Damn E.T. for making everyone think extratrerrestial means aliens.

Oh course, i already know what those signals say: "Go back to the oceans guys, its just not worth the effort"

Got to love the crackpots...

while other scientists believe that they are extra-terrestrial signals which were intentionally sent Earth’s way.

Right, from a galaxy 3 billion LY away. Yeah, some alien life is really going to be intentionally sending us signals.
