"Align" ship with trajectory...

Does anyone else get this annoying little message, about 75% of their jumps? Be it SC or HC, I have to "align" almost everytime I jump. And by doing so I am always going off of an actual alignment. Its been happening for months, I was just curious if it happens to other people or I am just special. I can understand that even in the vastness of space, sometimes there may be something in your way, and a little nudge might be needed to avoid it. However it cannot be that it occurs this often.

This little message actually annoys me more than even engineers, could we maybe get a broader spectrum of alignment, so that I may keep what sanity is left to me?

You realize you could just wait for your ship to adjust your trajectory to the alignment of the ship instead of aligning your ship with the trajectory? Often doesn't take longer than a few seconds.

Also unless you do 75% of your jumps from normal space you will not get this message that often. In supercruise you simply cannot get this message.

Basically your ship is drifting from going too fast in normal space flight (not supercruise) you will need to wait until your ship is going in a straight line again then the alignment will be okay.

I can't believe I'm saying this ( because its you :p) but this is absolutely true. Its only a few seconds in fully boosted drifts so it will never take longer than that, and in SC you can't break alignment anyways.

I agree. This insane,STUPID message have no sense and make me crazy..... STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP

It makes perfect sense.

So true.

Think about it, you're about to accelerate from around 300 meters per second to 30k/s in a very short space of time, the least you can do for your poor ship is be heading in the right direction!
How about an option to turn off these "insane" messages but if you're not in alignment, you install kill yourself?

What I meant was when jumping from normal space, SC or HC, I get this message, not jumping from SC to HC. And yes it only takes a few seconds for your ship to align itself. Or it takes maybe one less second to do it manually, which is not really the point. I was just curious if this also happens to a lot of other people. I love this game, with all its faults. For some reason though this bugs me more than buzz crashes, engineers etc.

As for the drifting problem, sometimes maybe. But there are plenty of times I'm leaving a planet, fly straight up, no boost align with vector and I still get the message. Or flying out of a mail slot and my destination is straight ahead. No drift.

I Believe if we actually was sat in a real spaceship and about to go in to hyper drive or super cruise we may well get more than this message or obstical

but agreed it is a little annoying

It does indeed make sense..

I never even find this annoying.. It would be annoying if it wasn't there..
It's annoying. It's definitely not a big deal. Like at all. But it's still annoying when it happens. Kinda breaks the mood. Especially as there is no HUD indicator as to why you're not "aligned" (because you're drifting and there can't really be one).

If you fly in a 90 degrees angle compared to the surface, you wont encounter this message, unless you are indeed, drifting.

You can see it though..

There is this.... lets call it "space dust" you see when you fly. If you are drifting, you can see it coming form above, below, or sides. If you are flying in a straight line, it will become .... tunnel'ish.

My ships must have been made in Tokyo then. I've dealt with it for months, I will deal with it for years. I basically wanted to just make sure that I was not the only person to be experiencing this and find it to be an annoyance. Now that I have done that, I can go back to my normal response of a heavy sigh when it happens. Same as buzz crash response :)

Yes, especially close to planets. But still, I'm used to my escape trajectory indicators :p

And I'm fairly sure I already had this message popup while I was flying straight and even sometimes pointing to the H-jump destination and not clearly understanding what was wrong in my ship's trajectory.

But as I said, hardly a big deal :)

I've only experienced this when fleeing combat or jumping out of RES sites

I consider it the system's way of helping you point in the right direction. Just correct in the direction of the target vector and you will be fine.

-k

I only noticed this since 2.1 dropped and I had to start high-waking after interdictions. As stated by others, you just have to align as usual and wait a second or two.
It was disconcerting at first, particularly when under attack.

It means the nose of your ship might be pointing in the right direction, but your heading according to your actual vector isn't. If that makes no sense you could do yourself a favour finding out what vectors are, it might explain a few things to you about why your ship moves the way it does.

If that's too much effort though here's the simple version - this message means your ship is 'skidding' through space, you need the skid to stop before you can jump. Long as you've got flight assist on this will happen automatically after a few seconds. The actual time and how often you see the message in the first place is highly dependant on what ship you're flying & how you fly it.
