All New & Old Biome Skirts - 1.11

I really love all of the new maps, but I echo sentiments of disappointment over the lack of a city skirt (I wouldn't have used it too much myself but it feels so necessary) and the removal of the temperate farmland map. The latter is especially baffling, but I imagine it'll quickly be brought back in a patch after they uproar they get over its removal. Nonetheless, I'd say I'm still more excited than I am disappointed, with the Tropical Oceania map in particular being absolutely perfect for a zoo I've been planning!

I really hope they continue to add new skirts in future updates - aside from a city zoo, the ones I'd be most excited for are a Mediterranean-style grassland map for Europe and a new grassland skirt for Oceania - I wish we had a temperate map for Oceania as well, but that depends on them changing that damn front-end globe. As happy as I am with the custom skirts for deserts and rainforests, most zoos in Australia and all zoos in New Zealand are not located in these two environments.

Unfortunately, the workshop maps can only be opened as sandbox (I play challenge mode mostly), but great idea with the save file, I totally forgot we could just share those!

Those can also be transfered, can't they? I can save you a challenge file real quick if you like.

This is utter nonsense if you ask me.
It feels like they're limiting freedom in a game where freedom is absolutely key. The update is not even out but everyday I find new flaws which make me more and and more disappointed (and this has been 3 updates in a row...).

Yeah. The updates before left me meh, because they just weren't for me (like this one), but this one really dissapoints me - angers me even. Scratching maps is not okay and to be honest, the biome skirts should have been communicated better. At the latest in the moment where everyone was hoping for a city biome etc.
It's not a ridicolous expecttation from the community, so I wouldn't blame us, but it would have helped if they stepped up and say "hey guys, we only have natural enviorements as backgrounds."
Personally I didn't even know that the skirts also mean it's set terrain and we can not choose between flat or non-flat.

I would understand the Deletion of the Map if they would create a Remake of it but they didn't mention anything about it😕
I think someone should post about it in the Update Thread as soon as it's released so Frontier will see how disappointed many Players are because of that Decission

It is pretty stupid. There was a clear expectation from the community of what this was going to be; choosing skirts in the same way you choose difficulty level, terrain, biome, and so on. This wasn't a bad assumption either; by all accounts it makes perfect sense to think it was going to work that way. I'm shocked that nobody in Frontier's PR department looked at the discussion going on about this (and not just here, either, it seems everyone had the same idea all over the web) and thought, "we should probably talk about how this is going to work."

That said, I fully expect the standard temperate European map to be reimplemented after all this. Wouldn't be surprised if it was in 1.11.1 or 1.11.2 or something.

I have a question with the temperate map with the farm fields... can't you choose in sandbox mode as a scenario map?
I remember it's the "Goodwin House" and "Scholey Mansion" stage zoo and if you select "terrain only" it loads flat.

Yeah I think so, no idea if the scenario maps are getting changed aswell
