Alliance: Call to Arms

I almost made it back in to the fight yesterday. It seems my machine did not like the last update and I suffered multiple crashes. Only 1 jump away from Bamileng now though, so should be around tonight. :)

I like blue as the colour as the Alliance symbol is blue and white (and it goes with my eyes ;)). I shall be getting a vibrant pack today :)

New update, hurrah. Servers to be down between 4 and 5. For once, in a blue moon, I managed to get my work wrapped up by 4. 20 min drive home and grab something to eat, should be in the game early. :D

Now twenty to seven, servers still down :(

Wish the update had happened on a different day. Suppose t would have been bad for someone else then though, so that's just me being selfish.

No practical suggestions or useful info here. Just filling in the down time with a moan ;)

P.S. Anyone here got a Steam key? I have one but have no idea what to do with it.

Many of us here are British, moaning is what we do best. We have honed it into a beautiful art form.

EDIT: Upgrade button has appeared!

Open up Steam, one of the drop down menus above should have an option called "Redeem Key", or something along those lines.
EDIT: Just checked, Games drop down (at the top edge of the program)>Activate a Product on Steam.

No problem, Dayrth. :)
If my connection isn't being bogged down, I should be on shortly. I decided to change up my build cause the Classic Elite Cobra build (beam or pulse lasers, fixed point only, missile racks) is definitely not viable in CZ's without a wingman packing hard-hitters. I tried firing the missiles at a Python which managed to somehow laugh off every shot. They did no damage, or the only damage they did wasn't enough to deal exactly 1% or higher. I wish missile racks were buffed up already, cause using them in a CZ is the equivalent of hitting someone with a wet noodle.
This time I'm using C2 Gimbaled Cannons and C1 Gimbaled Beam Lasers.

Argh, not the wet noodle!

Okay, in about five minutes I just got completely curb-stomped by a Cobra in the same CZ where I've spent the day cleaning up Pythons, Cobras, Asps, Eagles and Anacondas, nearly giving me a heart attack in the process when the post-death screen didn't actually give me the option to buy back my ship, or anything at all (good thing I waited). The servers seem to be having trouble (maybe everybody jumping back in after a three hour wait?) so I'm probably going to give it a rest for the night.

You're not the only one having problems since the server came back up.
One player has reported that he's no longer pledged to a power anymore after getting back in, another has reported that his shields were down after being disconnected from the game.

Hey comrades,
in the system Dhanhopi is war. Not Civil War but War! Two Alliance factions are fighting against each other; Democrats vs Lobbyists. In the system also a trader searching for weapons can be found.

Interesting.. I believe AEDC's code of conduct in such matters states that unless you're actively pulling for one power in particular to let things settles themselves providing there is no outside interference then you pick the side likely to retain control. (that last bit was mine but still...) do we work under such directives?

As you rightly point out, AEDC advise staying out of Alliance vs Alliance wars.. and to be honest...there are plenty of other conflicts where we can all do more good.

On a different subject..... I did my first succesful Interdictions this evening!! :D I'm sure most of you have accomplished this but for me it was a real step forward!
Ok..the first was a Viper in Wing and the second an Imp. Courier..but it was great fun! OMG! I'll end up joining CODE!! :D:D

I shall spend several more stints at honing this new craft and hopefully be able to take on some combat Undermining PP missions next week. Looking forwards to that...
.... and yes... I can cover my insurance costs many times!! lol
I might start PP in Solo...although I really prefer Open. Take it step by step. :)

Ah yes welcome to the dark side. It does feel good for once to be the one firing the first shot rather than being on the defensive. It gets better, luckily our mandate is a destruction madate not a cargo recovery. According to other players those missions are involved and only yield 1 merit point per T of cargo recovered vs 1 ship destroyed = 15 merit points. I feel rebalancing will happen as a result but hopefully not too soon.

Finally getting my fleet back together, felt good seeing some of the old Cockpits back already. I missed those alot :)

Was running in Konduwa CZ today, since it remained active after the V1.3.02 Update...

(sure is an whole different feeling than running around in big combat Ships, absolutely enjoyed that!)

I have absolutly no idea how you do that. I try every trick in the book but just get spanked by Anacondas and most Pythons. People hve said "stay on there underside" or "stay behind them" which is a bit like saying "Just blow them up". They can turn and roll so easily to bring their turrets and gibles to bear that there is no safe angle of attack. I have no idea how people can take them down.

My 'home' system of Loperada is now in a civil war. Whilst it is not an alliance system, it is independent, and a rather nice Hi-tech system. I've been pepping it for Mahon for a few days now. However Loperada and Co are now at risk of losing the system to the dirty Feds. I've spent all night blowing up Federation ships but they are gaining ground. If anyone had the time, please pop along to Loperada and stop the Federation gaining another system.

They certainly feel a bit tougher these days. This may be a bit of "blind leading the blind" seeing as my combat skill aren't exactly great, but I do manage to down the behemoths... eventually. My list of tips...

- target their power drives

- upgrade your thrusters

- use VoiceAttack to adjust your pips on the hoof

- keep your speed in the blue sweet spot. My 360 gamepad sets 50% speed when I click down on my mushroom

- You can also use your jinking thrusters to stay in the blue sweet spot

- I play in solo. I get my fellow Alliance NPCs to help take down the Anacondas, either by waiting for them to attack it or by flying towards the green

- I'm not too ashamed to high-tail it outta there when things start getting too hot. I go to a safe distance to recover my shields

Two more suggestions.

1. Make sure when you're in a CZ by yourself that you develop a keen sense of situational awarenes. Make sure to really look at that scanner and understand where your friends and enemies are. When attacking opt for a position of force that usually is found within a
group of friendlies that way you won't be the only target and will have some backup. Target fixation is to be avoided at all costs. Don't ever get so fired up about an enemy that you forget to check your surroundings and get led right into a trap or a position of weakness where there are way more of them.

2. As others have pointed out good outfitting will change the tables in your favor. I can't pick your style but I found out that to take on the Anacondas you for sure will need a shield cell and a chaff launcher. One extends your staying power the other keeps fire off of you from the turrets. Not foolproff but they may decide the difference between victory and defeat when used correctly. Finally weapon loadouts make a difference. As far as ship components go the higher quality the better but for weapons I always mix and match Laser with Kinetic. Lasers (1 beam in my case) strip the shields the kinetic weapons go to work on the subsystems and thus the enemy. Focus your approach and don't go in guns blazing without a plan... I usually target, beam, beam, retreat, repeat. When shieds go offline then switch to cannons and fire away until they are done.
