Alliance: Call to Arms

The sportsday event is happening on the Beta server so you should still have plenty of cash there. I won't be able to take part in the Anaconda Destruction Derby. I reset my character on the beta just to see how long it would take me to make money.

I actually made 170,000 credits on my first trip out of the station <proud grin>. It was a bit of luck though. I thought the quickest way to make money would be through missions so I took a courier job. I had a bit of time so I stopped by a Nav Beacon to see if I could get a bit of bounty to boost my earnings. There just happened to be a bunch of cops taking down an Anaconda. I thought to myself that there was nothing to lose with a Sidewinder. The stock laser don't do much damage but because I was "Harmless" I was completely ignored. Over 100,000 credits for practically nothing!

Been away from the game for a few days (car trouble), but I am back now :)

It seems that nothing much has changed though.

Off doing some missions last night, (as there were apparently no wars) and found an odd thing. As I was hunting pirates i came across these in two wings:

I thought wings were limited to 4 for AIs as well. Is this a new thing, or have I just not been paying attention ?

Turns out that Orerve is not one of ours (Independent vs Independent), so still no known conflicts in Alliance space.

I'm sorry I won't be able to attend wing training on Thursday. I'm going to the wing training over at Wolf 359, Lomas Orbital, at roughly 8:00.

I'd be happy to see if anybody else from this thread decides to take part as well.

Did the update yesterday. Waited very impatiently all day, until I could finish work. Rushed home and dived in to 1.4.... or not :( Authentication error, failed to connect to server, authentication error IN THE GAME :D... crash, authentication error :(. This went on for about an hour. I suppose it is only to be expected with a major client and server update, and everyone trying to get in at the same time to try the new shiny goodies, but I am not a very patient person.

Still, it settled down after a while and I got in and started playing. The first thing I noticed was that if you start using thrusters before being released from the pad they don't work. You have to release the control then start thrusting again. Then if you raise landing gear while still thrusting the thrusters are cancelled. Again release and restart to get them working. Not a major bug but annoying.

Off I set do do a 'hunt the pirates' mission. Didn't take long to find some. The next thing I noticed was that we have the gun sight from CGC now. The dots in the reticule now turn to red crosses if the target is out of range. I quite like this. Many a time in the past I have been blasting away at my quarry wondering why I'm having no effect on there shields only to glance down and realise that they are out of my weapons range.

Then I notice something else. These pirates have been working out. They are really difficult to keep in my crosshairs, they don't seem to have a problem blasting away at me though, they seem to have tougher shields, they seem to work effectively as a wing and THAT ANACONDA JUST USED A SHIELD CELL :eek: . (Do I detect the hand of SJA here?). I completed the mission, but limped back with a badly damaged ship and virtually no ammo left.
Later I went to a low intensity conflict zone. Life was even harder there. I did not have the courage to try a high intensity one.

The last thing I noticed was a change in interdictions. I found interdicting my pirate prey a lot more difficult. I still managed to get them every time but it was quite a struggle sometimes. When enemy ships interdicted me though it was a different story. I had to fight for my life to avoid interdiction and sometimes I just had no chance. Those AI have been practising over there in beta.

All in all life in 1.4 is much tougher than it used to be, but I have to say I love it :D

Everything seem static at the moment. Diso was still going on last night, but STILL no word of any other Alliance conflict. It could be that any change was put on hold until the player groups had been migrated, (there was some trouble getting this finished). If that's the case them maybe we will see some action soon.

Went and picked up me shiny new Imperial Eagle last night. It really is a very pretty ship. Lovely little fighter too. That medium hard point makes a real difference. :)

Civil war in diso is over, but we now have civil wars in Reorte, Leesti and Zaonce. All Alliance vs Alliance.
 
Hey guys, I am back to get you some updates on (Civil) Wars in small Alliance systems as I am all over the alliance doing fun stuff. I will update you guys as soon as I find one.
