Alliance: Call to Arms

The ARC is not involved in this battle. 3 of the factions involved in this fight are Alliance. In the future, would it be possible to suggest which side the ARC should be fighting for?

As usual I will be AFK now until Sunday evening. I have been doing missions for ARC in Zaonce and our influence is looking very healthy at the moment. Would anyone out there like to drop by and do a mission or two while I am away?

My apologies about last night Dayrtth. Let me explain what happened...

I was firing at a Vulture when he started using chaff to confuse my gimbals. I dropped target lock to get all my weapons firing straight at him until I noticed "That's funny? None of my bullets seem to be reaching him". I followed the trace of my bullets to an angry-looking NPC miner who started firing back at me. I must have hit the target lock twice and re-targetted a friendly by mistake. Knowing what I did straight away gave me the chance to high-tail it out of there, pronto. It was quite a sight to see all those angry red lollipops gunning for me as I watched my FSD spool up.

Knowing what I did wrong gives me a chance to prevent it happening again, and I do want to Wing up again. Going into a CZ as part of a Wing is great fun, and a very effective way of achieving goals. I've tweaked my bindings a bit to work better within a Wing. I also need to bind a few key phrases seeing as we aren't using voice comms:-

- "whoops I made a blunder. Sorry!"

- "well that didn't go to plan <sigh>"

- "lead on McDuff"

- "yes"

- "no"

- "I've got to go back to the station to repair re-arm"

- "I'm at the combat zone"

- "I'm in supercruise"

can anyuone think of any more useful stock phrases?

How about 'HELP!' :D

No worries. That was fun last night. I will be devoting most of next week to ARC missions, but will be about on Thursday for winging up :) Might bring my Vulture next time and give that a try. Should be good for acting as wingman for your Python and keeping trouble off your back.

A little question about the ARC missions on the Bulletin board.. I took on a couple of the assassination missions and now my name is mud in a couple of the surrounding systems. I have to wait a week until I can clear my name.

Is there any way to take on these missions without becoming wanted in the process?

Ah, finally back in the game. I've been reacquainting myself with it as well as getting up to speed with the new additions (compromised nav beacons, CQC and so on). I have nearly finished moving all of my ships from 70 Virginis to ARC's faction headquarters in Zaonce, after which I will start taking on missions. I may be quitting PowerPlay though, can't say I've missed that much.

I will also try and get the ARC HQ website updated in the coming weeks/months with a handful of new features, improvements and enhanced graphics.

Not that I am aware of. I'm pretty sure assassination missions always make you wanted in that jurisdiction, that's partly why they tend to be the best paying missions.

I had a glance through Walt Kerman's Guide to Minor Factions and the Background Sim
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=193064

So what is our next step? Do we keep doing missions to hold the ARC up into "boom", building up money for the faction,

or do we do as the guide suggests and we build up some sort of rival so that we can enter into civil war. If we do that, which rival do we pick?..

Zaonce Pro-Alliance Party
Zaonce Jet Gang
Zaonce Galactic & Co
Zaonce Alliance Assembly

I'm just an old miner. I dig rocks out of the ground. I take potshots at the occasional pirate before running away. I don't understand any of this highfalutin metagaming stuff. If everyone thinks we should just keep taking missions from the ARC to keep them in "boom", I'm fine with that. I just thought it was something that needed saying.

Personally I'm just going to do missions, bounty hunting etcetera, but I will refer to that handy and exhaustive (read: frickin' detailed and long) guide to make sure I'm not doing anything that can hurt the faction. I think eventually we're going to want to push ARC into expansion so we can establish our faction in other systems, but we'll likely need to vote on stuff like this, so we should probably establish a democratic voting system and guidelines over at ARC HQ to determine faction strategy and direction.

A democratic voting system is exactly the best way for an Alliance group to establish their goals <grin>

I'm going to start taking ARC missions from the Sawyer Station to see what happens.

Some server issues yesterday, so was not able to check out the war situation. I will try to get an update this evening.

Frank found this one yesterday:

Lenore - Alliance vs Federation

We haven't had a war against the feds for a while.

There's a High Intensity Conflict Zone on the doorstep of the Alliance Station, but that's got a Capital Ship defending it. If you're more of a coward like me, you may want to worry away at the Feds from the safety of the Low Intensity Conflict Zone at LENORE A 5. We're helping out the BIELONTI SILVER GANG

Had a go in the HICZ, even had a crack at the capital ship. Seconds later I was running away with major hull damage:D

Seconds eh? So you did better than me <grin>.

Do you want to have a pop at the capital ship when in a wing on Thursday? I don't think just the two of us are going to be enough.

I can definitely manage for 7:00, and I'll probably be there earlier than that as well.

So that's three in our wing. Anyone else out there care to join us?
