Horizons Allocating materials limits

I didn't think I'd hit the 1K mats limit as soon as I did, jettisoned a few of which I had many to make room for some new ones. Any suggestions on a top-end count per material to make sure you can fulfill upgrade needs, etc., but not have to constantly rebalance the inventory? Obviously rarity plays a big role, but do I need 50 Carbon or Iron or Nickel? Sulphur & Phosphorous (+ additives for premium blends) make SRV fuel so they get priority, but they are also easily renewed, and premium repairs are nice, too, but... how many of a mat is too many? 30? 40? 50?

I only keep 24 of the rares. There are some thing I keep as many as I find because they're hard to get and used in many good blueprints. Untypical Shield Scans, Datamined Wake Exceptions, Chemical Manipulators, Cracked Industrial Firmware. I used to count Exquisite Focus Crystals in that list but they're pretty easy to get now.

After doing a lot more surface and ring mining and USS visits, I'm thinking 30 is a top end and 25 a more reasonable limit. That should provide plenty of refuels, repairs, reloads, etc., and still have room for the "rares."
