Am I getting too old but is the new content too difficult to access?

Just to put a more balanced spin on this;- I'm really enjoying the new content in update 17. I haven't had that much fun since fighting thargoids around a planetary port. The fact that you don't need a pre-grind (Caustic sinks I'm looking at you) to access this content, is great.

Yes the new Thargoid Bean stalks are Good fun and accessible .....

Well, I’m 72 and I wouldn’t call the content too difficult, exactly. I’m able to do it.

But I do find it tedious and annoying and not particularly fun or engaging.

I’m off doing other things. The Titan stuff isn’t my cup of tea.

Exactly how i feel about ED since a while. Any new content is put behind yet another grindwall. So after they finally got the game back into a state where it was playable again for me, the game just showed me a row of grindwalls to now tackle. So i could experience things, which i can just as well see from some streamers on youtube.

So yea, as long as we just keep getting grindwall after grindwall, this game unfortunately by now is one of those, which is best "played" by watching youtube videos. :(

Last night I finally got the last few scoops of corrosive tissue that I needed to unlock the corrosive sink launcher. I felt like the process for this unlock was engaging, and I rather enjoyed figuring out how best to approach collecting all the various bits required.

I feel like these (corrosive sink launchers) unlocks in particular were well-done. It required dextrous play, situational awareness, learning about and engaging in mechanics that I don't usually consider (silent running, heat management), and a level of persistence that made the payoff feel earned.

I hope they can take the lessons they learned from making this unlock in particular and move their design practices forward following these precendents.

The decision to have the module unlock and then be purchasable with credits was the right decision, in my opinion. Doing this for each sink that I need would have taken the overall feeling from engaging to tedious.

The part of this process that I did actively hate was the hyperdictions and interdictions. They were constant. It was super frustrating. I did not feel like I was challenged by them in my gameplay skill. There is no skill in evading them, because you cannot evade hyperdictions at all, and the interdiction minigame when instigated by a Thargoid craft is, from what I can tell, unwinnable. So, you're forced to endure the "get pulled, silent run, heatsink, boost boost boost for 10-15 sec, activate FSD, and try it all again" and after a few times in a row I just feel like I'm looking at the clock watching time pass where I have accomplished literally nothing. Even making negative progress if the interdictions come fast enough and keep pulling you off course.

Glaives were even worse. I could not escape them by silent running as soon as I dropped like some other people have suggested. They stuck with me the entire time even when silent. The only difference SR seemed to make was that they'd not fire at me while they loomed on my rear. My ship was not fast enough to move away from them and was not large enough to escape their masslock. So, facing these meant I had to high-wake, if I could manage to avoid the FSD reset after dropping SR so I didn't catch fire while charging the jump, which is a lame kind of irony because actually making it out is just a different kind of reset--it resets the entire scenario so now I'm having to jump back in, probably getting hyperdicted, and then I start to wonder if I'm Sisyphus reincarnated. I'll be 100% honest and admit that I have started menu logging when I see it's a Glaive. It's just stupid and wastes too much of my time.

It seems to me that to have fun at the spire sites there is virtually no grind wall at all, but possibly some gitguddium needed.

I'd agree that the hyperdictions and interdictions are somewhat tedious..

Might be. Have not checked into that yet. I gave up on anything with Thargoids after all the "now grind this so you can grind that" stuff. I got the strong feeling that i am not the only person who gave up even looking at Thargoid content after so many iterations of just more grind.

I think if the interdictions were difficult but still winnable as long as you were in a decently maneuverable ship (so mediums could do it, but anacondas would struggle and a T10 would have no hope), instead of being rigged by making your ship act like it's in a neutron cone, would make them a lot less tedious. Too bad that ship has sailed though.

On my first visit I was taking a very slow approach, was arriving there on low altitude ... very impressive atmosphere, poor choice for parking my SRV on ground (Banshee found it and blew it up) and after looking little around on foot I called my ship and smoothly left (after shortly engaging one Orthrus and destroying pack of pursuing scouts).
