Imho FD shot themself in the foot here[...]
If you read the thread you'll realise that lots of the people who usually say "play your own way and the mats will come to you" actually agree with the criticism this time.
But i did. And those same people, allthough critisising the stupid grind for once, they go easy on the devs for once more. I bet they allready feel bad, and in the first chance they get, they will make it up by posting the usuall stuff like: "aww thanks devs for all the work" or "thanks devs for listening".
You see, its for those people that we cant have nice things in this game.
I 'll get my goat..
I get this impression that to some people you must either hate everything or love everything about ED. Why cant we be negative one some aspects, and positive about others?
I get this impression that to some people you must either hate everything or love everything about ED. Why cant we be negative one some aspects, and positive about others? And what on earth makes you think the devs are sitting in their office going:"Man, today we are going to make this awesome new thing. Oh wait, four people said they liked something about the game, never mind then."
That seems... unlikely. I think it is best to inform FD of what as individuals we feel works, what doesnt, and how the latter can be improved. And on the internet that means that every time you think something is or isn't good, others will disagree. No need to get so upset about that.
I went to two of the three Guardian ruins mentioned by galnet. Cool, I can now find stuff just using in-game info! Both look great, one reminds me of Machu Pichu, pretty pic stuff. Me=happy. There is some stuff to do, some risk, and it works without bugs. Well done FD! Then I notice I get one specific data thingy after completing the mini-puzzle. Not three, just one. And I need 22 to unlock the three modules that require them. Then I need four more of the other thingy at the other base. Am I correct that FD puts in two cool locations, adds a unique 'quest', finally adds all needed info in-game, and then messes up by expecting me to do this 24 more times?
If so, could some community manager who reads this please tell Sandro et al. that 'now do this n-number of times' is not good game design? I for one am not going to do that. It turns what started as a cool experience into a chore. 'now do it 24 more times' doesn't add to the fun. It diminishes it.

I totally agree with you.
You want the reward (unlock three modules) but the game is forcing you to do something you don't like to get your reward (solve 22 repetitive puzzles). I think it would be great if you could do something you actually enjoy doing and still eventually unlock the content you want to play with.
How does the new puzzle work from a gameplay perspective? Trial and error like the last one?
Hmm, this all seems familiar somehow....

I pretty much agree with you but you know what? Most of the time people like you defend the devs acts and justify them, even if other peoples critisism is civilized and well reasoned and please dont ask me to find you links, either you know it or you dont. Thats why its difficult to believe that you can do any negative critisism for real. Its more like playing the fair guy kinda thing, since the thread's main subject is indeed about something seriously twisted like mode hopping to achieve a goal. Duh most of the game is like that you just dont see it.
For example: If i open a thread about how soul crushing it is to stay in super cruise for hours just to find HGE to find something specific, you will probably turn out and say.. dude just play the game and enjoy and you will find the mats needed just dont convert it into grind.
- Who said i was upset?
Why go after all three modules at once though?
They already have a few different versions. They could have simply have each one give you one special data thingy, and have each tech only require one.
Why go after all three modules at once though? Also I suspect there will be other ways and places to get mats for those mods in future.
