An Open Letter to the E:D Team and Frontier

A brand then? I'm fairly confident you get my point, friend. :)
Brand it is, certainly, as it was created by Braben & Bell back in the day (I played the original on the BBC too).

Your point? I'm not certain I 'get' that - it just sounded like the usual 'Dev Bash' to me :)

The OP makes some valid points though regards things like bonuses being silly though.
Plenty of 'silly' in the game, not just bonuses - and, just like you, I'm wondering if Odyssey is going to address the 'filling out' of gameplay (like PP) and disparity between 'career paths' or just make a FPS with all of the loose ends in the game still flapping around in the breeze... (although if the atmosphere is tenuous enough there will be no breeze)

Blimey has anyone read this thread thus far?.
Isn't the whole point of forums to discuss search and aquire knowledge of elite dangerous?
So when Op or whomever posts are we not obliged to see past the rage & frustration to the meat n taters of it?
To post as Op is a brave thing to do nowadays. Most are done as a result of... and one should expect emotion and frustration at mechanics which are broken or unbalanced.
Are we not obliged to post our ideas of how to Improve this game?
I admire Ops post for it's ideas. Personally I don't agree with it all.
Let's assume fdev read these posts.
What do you think they'll determine from it?
Childlike respoonces salt vitriolic and frankly unhelpful.
I post ideas as does alot of folks here.
I'll never allow trollng flaming or otherwise put me off.
But that's just me.
So is it productive to slate a person for posting even if it's tosh....no. nothing to be gained at all.
Old saying.
If you've nothing good to say, say nothing.

You should not be able to get rich within hours of starting without some godly amount of work put in first.
I'm inclined to think this is a red herring.

Yes, it's possible to get seriously rich within hours of starting a new save or account - if you know what you're doing. But unless they've got an experienced player at their side telling them what to do, or they've done some serious research on the interwebs, the new player is going to find that spectacularly steep learning cliff to be a serious obstacle to instant wealth.

It's really hard to use the Road to Riches to get a running start to the game if you don't have a clue what the Road to Riches is.

Insubstantial breezes :D

Then I worded myself poorly, my bad.

No, my "bash" was more directed at the direction of most companies these days. Somebody comes up with something, it becomes wildly successful and popular, then the bean counting suits take over and everything goes straight to hell in a hand basket. I'm sure the current devs are doing all they can with the cards that they've been dealt, even though I have my personal opinions about certain decisions they've made (then again, that may too be due to things outside of their control, but feedback is feedback), but even the gods fight in vain against bean counters.

Do you know who has the single best idea on how to fix the game?

oh no.. a bad open letter is that a good thing or bad thing.

i so wish fdev kept to their designs and didn't change things half way through building due to open letters and moaning on the forum. if they did we would be in such a better place.
