An option for feathers ?...

I think there will be feathery skin DLC. Because lots of people want it so it would sell well.

Wow so many posts x)
I think a DLC is maybe your best chance to have feathers, even if the science missions says that they want to make more authentical dinosaurs !

Can please you explain why that might be a bad idea? While not solving the feather issue, it would provide players the option to make a more accurate dinosaur in general while staying true to the franchise.

I have no doubt FDev would have added feathers if the movies too had evolved together with increasing scientific knowledge. Sadly they did not.
In the videos the devs were very proud (and rightly so) about the way they modeled and animated the dinos and had made them behave naturally.
They also mentioned adding realistic scientific dig sites.
So it is clear to me that they would have loved to model the dinos that are known to have (proto) feathers with feathers in the game too.
I would not be surprised if the devs had asked the Universal guys if they would be allowed to add them. I think the answer was "No".

Anyway... it is not a big problem for me. In my mind I can make up some genetics related story about why the feathers got lost in translation.

If the game is moddable, we might see some feather mods perhaps?

I get it that the game‘s dinosaurs have to follow the movie‘s visuals. IP and all that and I am fine with it.

The real question is therefore: Why didn‘t the movie dinosaurs „evolve“ according the modern scientific knowledge? It would have been easy enough: „Oh, we were able to extract more complete DNA from our probes with the modern technology and hence didn‘t need to substitute with reptile DNA as much as we had to in our early attempts. What you see here is, how dinosaurs really looked like! Impressive, isn‘t it? They looked like the ancestors of birds, which is what they really were!“

Also keep in mind Wu's argument with Hammond that people don't want to see the reality, that they set out to make dinosaurs they way that people wanted to see them, not they really looked and acted. Page 120-125 of the first book (2006 edition published by Arrow Books) there's a long argument about this.

Frontier has stated that they want to stick close to the JP/JW lore and the lore clearly says no feathers. Expecting accurate dinosaurs in the JP series is fool's errand at this point, just get over it.

After some of you say that the game don't have feathers because of the lore, but if you really follow the lore of Jurassic Park and Jurassic World, it's the dr. Wu and his team which create the Null gene against feathers, and in Jurassic World Evolution, you don't work with Wu and his team but with another scientist (if you choose the science path) who want to create more authentical dinosaurs (I just said what she said in the game), so why can't we imagine if you follow this path that we can have more accurate and feathered dinosaurs, as it's what she try to do

Exactly. Feathers could be lore perfectly, they mixed dinosaur DNA with another animals to give Indominus invisibility, so they can mix DNA from birds to create feathered dinosaurs.

I guess the raptors could have feathers option, but it'd look kinda silly on rest on other dinosaurs.
Even though we don't know for sure which dinosaurs actually had feathers, billion years ago.
Expectations should be met, I guess.

All news discoveries made this last years show that there was more dinosaurs which had feathers that we though, but if you really want to follow the fossils, you need to add feathers (if you want accurate dinosaurs) on all Coelurosaurian (ornithomimosaurid like Gallimimus, dromaeosaurid like Deinonychus ou the Raptor, and maybe on Tyrannosaurid like the T. rex or the Albertosaurus if it's confirm for the game), is the minimum ;)

The simple answer is that they are not Dinosaurs. They are genetically engineered theme park monsters made to look like what the public perceives them to look like. They mention it in JW that these aren't accurate.

Great! Nothing's hurt with more freedom of choice , right? I wish to see all raptors versions in previous movies made available + a full-feathered version.

Host, sorry. Not that I'm aware of. Will post here if I find one.

Yes, of course the "normal" dinosaur don't need feathers, but that will be cool that we can have this in option, to have all versions of the raptor for example or some fluff things for others species like the T. rex or others dinosaurs ^^

That was actually a rhetorical question aiming for those who doesn't buy the idea. (I like a fluffy T-Rex btw. ><)

Seriously, I think the idea is very viable. Providing that Frontier designs the feathered models properly alongside with Universal, I can't think of any reason for the Studio to say no. It is scientifically accurate after all.

But the T-Rex was never found with feathers only a few other species of Tyrannosaurinae, until then for me Rexy will not look fluffy. ;)
