Hi folks new to the game just managed to buy an anaconda after nearly 2 weeks of damm hard grind......very first inderdiction i was looking forward to try her out in combat....nope my pride and joy was destroyed in seconds by an npc with a Vulture....are you kidding me man ?......... like no kidding max 10 seconds....didn't even have time to deploy my fighter let alone return fire ...................something very wrong here man how a huge ship like the conda can be wiped out in seconds by a runt like the Vulture........

Also the conda isn't even stock with upgraded shield generator, fsd, power dist and plant, fighter bay, shield boosters reinforced compartments, and a ton of weapons fat lot of good as i didn't even get time to deploy them.......

This is game breaking for me there is simply no point in grinding hundreds of hours for a top rated ship to be cut to pieces in seconds by a ship a 10th of the cost size and with nowhere near the firepower.......
Am i missing something guys ?

Welcome to the forum, and to Elite!

I will say that taking out one of the 'big three' for combat after only two weeks isn't going to go so well, especially nowadays with NPCs having engineered weapons and all. You've seen now that even large ships can be owned by the smaller ones, as the little ships have maneuverability on their side. I'm a little surprised that you died before even being able to launch a fighter or deploy weapons, though. What was your specific loadout?

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is what happens when you rush into the big ships without learning enough about the game to make anything of them other than an easy target.

Yes, you're missing lots. Go back to a smaller ship, and learn the basics. There is no point in buying a 'Conda for combat if you can't also A-rate the guts out of it. The 'Conda might be 'big' but the bigger they are, the harder they fall. 'Conda's are very big, easy targets with lots of points of vulnerability on them. Even with chaff, every weapon within 500m of you is going to hit you, gimballed or not. And you can't keep up with a small ship like a Vulture in a turning fight. No, for that, you need a fighter bay, and/or turreted weapons. I could go on with a long list of things people typically do wrong with the big ships, because they expect them to be unbeatable just by virtue of being bigger than everything else, but it's better if you just go back to small stuff, and stick with that until you have a better understanding of what those ships are capable of.

If you have the money for a 'Conda, then you have the money for a really good Vulture fit of your own. Start there, learn about the Vulture and what it's capable of, and maybe you'll develop an understanding of why you got beat so easy. Also, don't fly without rebuy, and don't bother undocking without at least an A-rated Vulture.

Thx for the replies guys i understand i'm only playing 2 weeks but its been a hard 2 weeks lol still man its just insane to be wiped out so fast by such a small ship,if the conda isnt a fighting ship or at least capable of fighting then whats the point of grinding for bigger ships with their massive weapons and mounts.........the cobra i had before was wiped out super fast too,not quite this fast tho at least i had time to deploy and fight but i put that down to it being a mid range ship more for trading and exp...but the conda ???? whats the point of all that armour an IMPROVED shield generator and hull reinforcement if your gonna get shot to pieces in seconds......i get the engineering and all that but no small ship should be able to that much damage to a behmoth like the conda so fast......another conda or another big ship yea ok...............i pumped all power into the shields and tried to pop off chaff and shield boosters then boooooom hull breach......14 mill gone............its a great game but this has left me really unhappy had a blast this last 2 weeks only for this to ruin my day lol....

Must have been this NPC, lol.

Would love to see the build you were using , and some indication of your combat skill. I have been playing three years now and frequently use one of my Anacondas for combat in haz res and combat zones , I don't get destroyed. I would suspect that you have little combat experience , nor engineering experience , at least , not enough of either that would enable you to use that ship in those circumstances. Hope you had the re-buy? As for your experience being game-breaking, well you did that to yourself and it's a little disingenuous to come on here expecting anything other than derision from experienced pilots.

2 weeks is not a grind and I second the notion that getting one of the big three after just two weeks can lead to a high probability of things not going well in combat, especially if it's a multipurpose ship like the Anaconda as opposed to a combat ship like the Corvette. Unless you have a wealth of prior experience flying in flight simulator games that use Newtonian-like physics for flying mechanics, you're going to have a hard time maneuvering in a large ship for combat in this game and a highly maneuverable small heavy combat fighter like a Vulture can otherwise fly circles around you staying in your blind spots slagging your shields and ripping your modules apart in short time if the NPC pilot has a high combat ranking.

Not having stock modules doesn't mean anything in and of itself. If you don't understand module statistics well you can end up with a fairly inefficient build for combat using higher rated modules. If you post your ship build from Coriolis, other players might be able to make some suggestions to improve it.

If it was engineered to g5 on shield gen and boosters there is no way anything NPC is taking you out in ten secs.

I fly a conda all a spec and g5 and can withstand an elite wing of one conda with four vulture escort for about a minute but need to pop chaff and cells rapidly as well as pips to sys.

One Elite vulture should be no trouble at all NPC don't have the firepower so they like to ram but they only damage themselves.

If it was in a CZ that might be different those NPCs are armed and engineered to the hilt.

My advice if you want to dabble in combat is go to low/high res and bounty hunt but don't bite off more than you can chew as in wings.

They do depending on your rank. If you're elite combat rank, elite npc damage is much lower. If you're novice combat rank, elite npc pretty much one-shots any of your ships due to the rank difference scaling.

Have you ever done any combat? Did you have a rebuy?

Well the Conda (or Corvette or Cutter) isn't an automatic "win" in any dust-up with smaller ships. It really comes down to your loadout and skill. As I said before, 10 seconds seems very fast to for you to go down, so it would be helpful to know exactly what you were outfitted with.

The point of an Anaconda is that it is a superb mult-role ship that can, in the right hands and with the right outfitting, do pretty much whatever you want. That said, it's not something that will be necessarily easy or more forgiving simply because it's big.
