Anaconda or Corvette??

I expect this question and others similar have been asked a million times before but I just want some advice.
I have 610 mill in the bank and can now buy the Corvette after Fed grinding for what seems like an eternity, the thing is that I'm now thinking of getting an Anaconda instead, I love my current ship which is a Python, which I use for Trade missions, PVP and some exploring.
I am thinking of getting out of the bubble and going to do a bit more exploring but I still want a decent combat ship too. So any advice on which of these 2 to get?

The Vette is better in all aspects except jumprange.
For 600 million you'll get a Vette but it won't be fully upgraded though.
Remember to keep money reserved for a rebuy.
Since I got my Vette I hardly fly the Conda anymore, it flies like a heavy fighter even in supercruise and has enough module slots to haul a lot of cargo or passengers.
Since flying the Vette I'm a little sad I don't get interdicted when running a mission, it's a pve killer.

Corvette is a combat ship. If you want to do anything else, get the Anaconda. Especially for any kind of long distance travel.
A fully A-rated combat Corvette will cost more than you have

The first ship I bought as soon as I could was a Python and for all the same reason's you did. My second was a Conda; with the exception of it being able to land on small or medium out post stations, It's basically just a really large large Python which when engineered can do EVERYTHING. Prior to the Corvette and the Cutter and more recently the T-10. The Conda was the main ship of choice to obtain and engineer. Today I've got only 5 ships, not including the Vette or Cutter. Each of which has has been loaded out and engineered for it own particular purpose.

I just recently switched from a PS4 where as in a year and a half had amassed billions of cr's and a dozen ships that included the Vette, Cutter and Conda as well as a Python, switched to an Xbox One X. Though I had no ships, I did get to maintain ALL my assets. Knowing what I know, I bought 3 conda's and devoted all the time needed to build and engineer them for exacting purposes. One is a modified explore that gets 58.8 ly's, which is great in and out of the bubble for gathering materials. One is just for mission's in general in which I've got a compete set of cabin's and cargo bins in storage to be utilize as needed. The third is my War Wagon, for those times when ya just want kill something. With the exception of being able to land at small or mediums size outpost station's, a conda is just a really large Python. And once properly engineered, handles just like an A graded one.

Im confortable to say what i am about to say since i had both and atm i ran a corvette for multi purpose use, about the same u are pursuing, to use it to explore but can combat if i need be or want to.

This 2 ships are similar, but totally diferent...

U will ear this over and over again:

Exploration = Anaconda
Combat = Corvette

But...

I got a build wich im working on, wich is my current ship, and it is the Corvette and i use it for both exploration and combat, and it handles well in both, off course it will never have the jump range of a conda, but it beats it in all the remaining aspects, and exploration isnt just being able to jump...

Here u can see it:

This thing can handle hands down at PVE, can explore, even doe its range is just 30Ly (with the guardian FSD booster), but it can work with some D-rated equipment wich will increase the range it can go, but wont be able to handle as good in combat.

This is just to give u an idea about what u can do with a corvette.

I personally after all ive tried will say always hands down i preffer the corvette over the anaconda all day long, better handling, better looks, can be a all rounder too.

Vette and Conda are both fine ships when equiped and engineered properly.
I would never take any one of them out exploring though.
I've been to Hawkin's Gap with a Conda, never again, in supercruise it steers like a Whale but one thing that bothers me most is that with the Conda and Vette half your screen is filled with ship.
When out exploring I like a good view as the AspX or Krait Phantom has.

I'm using my Vette as a bulk passenger liner atm, 54 first class seats and still room for an SLF and Guardian FSD Booster, it's a money printer lol.

My vote is for the Vette.

I used to love my conda, earned trade Elite in that ship, then converted it to combat and earned many bounties, at one point I stripped it down for exploration as well.

Now the conda is gathering dust, the Vette is better at combat, more agile, and has a better cockpit view. You can trade in it and even explore if you want. Mine is getting 28ly fully laden for combat purposes though there are far better options for exploration than a Conda or a Vette.

Anaconda or Corvette are both plenty capable for PvE combat, but the Corvette is superior in terms of PvP, simply because it has better shields, and equip larger shield cell banks.

You can PvP in whatever your heart desires, however, so don’t let anything as silly as statistics keep you from following your dreams lol.

Anaconda has a considerably higher jump range, and can still hold its own in PvE combat while still being able to jump 40+ ly, assuming it’s modified correctly.

As others have pointed out you don't have enough credits to make the Vette viable in combat right now. I just wanted to address everyone that is saying the Vette isn't a good choice for exploration and point out that I took one to Sag A pre engineers.

That being said you can get the Vette now and set it up for exploration and use the windfall from that to fund kitting it for combat. The Conda will always thrash it on jump range and having a lower rebuy but the Vette handles better and does everything else just as well as the Conda.

Like the OP I'm in a similar situation, having enough credits to choose Anaconda or Corvette for trade/ exploration, then build enough of a bank to outfit it for combat. One thing however confuses me; both ships require large landing pads, nixing them for all outposts. The thing is outpost delivery has been a large part of the mission board missions I take, and what got me to Tycoon and seven hundred M cr's { flying a Python}. Though the Anaconda/ Corvette have the capabilty to carry more cargo they're both limited by where they can land and subsequently what missions you can accept in them.
Does the game AI tailor mission board missions in part by what ship you're flying ?

You will get a “Ship too large” tag on some missions, so you don’t end up accepting a mission you can’t complete.

You really do not have enough credits for a properly fitted Corvette and an Anaconda is much more flexible. The Anaconda will get you back into Corvette money in no time.
I do not mean to say a Corvette cannot earn Anaconda money:
but you didn't say anything about wanting to go mining . . .

I'd say this has been answered already, but I'll chip in with my angle anyway.

I feel the time-honoured question of 'which is better?' - re any ship from any player - is usually the wrong one to be asking. Or, that the only answer can ever be a series of questions; what's most important to you? A min/maxing optimum build for a role? Or do you not mind some compromises?

You say you want to keep exploring, out of the bubble no less, but also want to do combat. Do you really want a ship to do both those things?

A truism in Elite is that any ship can be any thing; a Vulture or FDL can explore, an Eagle can trade, and a Beluga in a congested HAZ-res can mine shieldless and with no fighter escort... It can be fun to match almost any role to any ship. So it all depends on what compromises you're happy with, and exactly what your priorities are.

The Corvette will be the next ship I get, and by the time I get back to the bubble I'll have well over a billion creds - which I'll be largely funneling into an exploration build to then visit Sag A*. Whenever that trip ends, I'll be converting it into a dedicated combat ship, as it was intended to be.

So a TLDR... Both ships can do anything ably, but as has been noted you need more credits to pour into a combat build Corvette. The Anaconda's arguably the best ship in the whole game in terms of being a true multi-role ship, so if you care about a good jump range when exploring, then between those two ships the Anaconda is the clear winner by far. So that might be a deciding factor.

Exploration builds are, relatively, very cheap and easy (fit the best FSD, strip the mass as much as you care, and that's it). Combat builds are the most expensive in the game, and far more complicated and harder to nail down in terms of the finer details (hardpoint placement/convergence, power requirements, thermal build up, pitch/yaw/roll rates relative to certain weapon types, and so on).

Based on all that, the clear winner in your current situation is surely the Anaconda. Especially so when considering the obscene earning potential that comes with it. If you also trade, fight, and maybe mine in it, you'll not only earn the ship's cost back quite quickly, you'll be well on your way to earning enough for a full combat build of a Corvette (which you can then easily try out on exploration runs before committing it to a combat role).

With the new slots coming im thinking of going back to one of my old time favourites, the DBX.

ATM im running my Corvette in the combat only setup (work in progress as engenieering goes) and it is being amazing in RES sites.

Get both and see what you think but obviously with 600 mil credits you will have to start with the Conda. Buying the Corvette now will most likely frustrate you if you can't max it's potential. You should earn that money and more quite quickly with the Anaconda with which you can then buy the Vette, I spent well over a billion on mine when I bought it for combat.

I tend to like specialising with my ships so I have a dedicated explorer, trader, combat (Vette), fun and fast combat and even a bubble taxi. My fun was testing loads of ships to identify my favourites.

My Anaconda is gathering dust right now, I loved it when I was using it for about a year and now it is kept for nostalgic reasons only lol. I would love to find a use for it again sometime in the future though.

Hope this helps in your decision, have fun they're both great ships.

Thanks to all for your advice, I've decided to get the Anaconda, after all it's a good all rounder, I may branch out and do some mining, it's a good earner but to be truthful I'll see how I feel and see where my Conda takes me...
In the future I'll get the Corvette and use it as my combat ship.
