Ahoy, space pirates!

We've received reports of the recent Odyssey update negatively affecting influence for anarchy factions and systems in the BGS. If your minor faction/system of choice has been affect, could you please reply to this thread with the following details:

  • The name of the faction
  • The name of the system
  • What you were trying to do vs what actually happened
  • Approximate dates you attempted the action

Make sure your reports concern incidents that occurred since 28 May. Please do not post replies to other comments, or post anything off-topic lest your comment be removed. We would like to keep this thread clean and efficient for feedback.

Your feedback will be immensely helpful in identifying and resolving this issue.

Edit: we ask for dates so that we can isolate and examine specific events. We understand that some issues are "always on" but please give specific instances where possible.

Storm Seekers
Windjeri, really on all our present systems is allways the same.
Misions that send me to kill my own faction people, steal my own generators, etc...
Since the bigining of odyssey till yesterday
Result we have to drop the mission so....

LHS 2429 Mob
LHS 2429
Doing missions for them and killing system security including destroying generators. Influence and faction state didn’t change at all.
I started doing missions for them on June 4th up until June 8th

The Crimson Flag
LHS 3666
Maintain BGS system control, general missions. Influence tanked spectacularly and we lost our system.
May 20 to present day

  • The name of the faction

Dragons of San Tu

  • The name of the system

San Tu

  • What you were trying to do vs what actually happened
Missions to raid a specific neighbouring faction, of a particular type of NPC especially (technician, personnel) that do not target a specific settlement cannot be completed - kills do not count towards mission completion.
  • Approximate dates
Always

Newton's Gambit
We've seen large influence drops in Airsetanoa, Pendijin and especially UGP 184 since the 1st June.
These drops seem to happen despite running high influence missions, for example on the 8th June UGP 184 went from 22.66 down to 19.96 in a single evening.
Made me wonder if the missions were giving the correct influence.

  • The name of the faction
Raiders of Helveti
  • The name of the system
Helveti
  • What you were trying to do vs what actually happened
1) On-foot missions taken from Raiders often force to kill hostile Raiders on mission locations. While this does not seem to impact the influence directly (as far as I can tell), handing in bounty vouchers would. The hostile randomly spawning Raiders should be replaced by clean soldiers from other lawful factions in the system on mission locations.

2) Defending against the heist at Stellar Mathematic Technologies installation. The installation is controlled by Raiders, the attackers were Nationalists of Helveti. Expected outcome of successfull defense: increase of influence of Raiders, influence drop of Nationalists. Actual outcome: influence drop of Raiders, influence increase of Nationalists.
  • Approximate dates
For missions - always
For installation heist defense - approx. June 1st 2021

  • The name of the faction
    • Hijos del Caos (anarchy)
  • The name of the system
    • Yupini
  • What you were trying to do vs what actually happened
    • Several commanders, between 6 and 12 daily, trying to increase the influence of the faction, it is very difficult or impossible task, or instead it decreases.
  • Approximate dates
    • 03-06 to actually
  • On all colindant systems there are missions on ship and on foot to break settlements and kiil "Hijos del Caos", nothing to other factions, also many missions of the type "kill the known pirate" or kill civilians, directly.
  • On Yupini there are missions on ship and on foot to kill Hijos del Caos from all factions, no to other factions, also kill the pirate, or kill civilians or broken the base, etc.
  • The BGS is lowering the influence of our faction without apparent reason.

Zero missions spawning despite being in investment, boom and expansion. We’ve had to find other ways to gain influence. Also, expansion didn’t start pending until we hit over 80% influence.
ongoing since May 26th.

Squadron Name: Diablo Syndicate
CMDR Name: Xenophage1987
Immediately after odyssey's drop my faction went into war, somehow dropping from 54% influence to 23% in less than 24 hours... We participated in the war en masse, handing in billions of credits worth of Combat Bonds for Diablo, yet we still lost the war within 48 hours because evidently the conflict zone completions and the mission completions didn't help our efforts. After the war, we continued to spral down to 16% influence (we were the system's owner, now we are second to last influencing faction) and entered another war which we are about to loose again. This has been going on from the very launch of odyssey. Thanks for your help!!

  • The name of the faction: Pirates of Gandii
  • The name of the system: Gandii
  • What you were trying to do vs what actually happened: faction became the generic antagonist and target of every mission. Our members are also often present at surface POIs, who are wanted and hostile. Influence tanked and there has already been two wars triggered since odyssey dropped. We are trying to avoid a 3rd war but raising influence is very difficult when we are constantly targeted.
  • Approximate dates: from odyssey release until present.

    • Our anarchy faction is controlling those systems, and since the update the systems are no longer displayed as lawless. The wanted status/clean is displayed on all the ships and there are security vessels from our anarchy faction everywhere in the systems (anarchy factions don't have security vessels).
    • Our security in all our systems dropped a lot, we even went into lockdown in one and now civil unrest in some systems. When we used to be able to often get a civil liverty. This issue may be related to the fact that our systems appear as not lawless and killing our security vessels (which should not exist) do not give bounties against players and probably decrease our security. May be also because of the farming of material as anarchy factions don't mind if players are killing everybody in a settlement and coming back to farm more without being wanted (when other factions will give bounties to players who will prefer to farm elsewhere...)
    • Also an issue with illegal missions like assassination etc. when our faction is targetting itself in the system since Odyssey (in horizon it never seemed to happen)
    • After completing missions for our faction, the reputation bar increases, however the influence bar does not seem to get the green bar to indicate it is increasing, sometimes the influence bar will even be at 0% (not sure if it is a display bug or if the mission did not give us any influence)

  • Approximate dates
    Since Odyssey update

Name: Dagr Crocodiles

System(s): Nuakea & G 139-3

What was tried to achieve: Missions seem to have very little effect influence-wise. Groundside enemies during missions (and in general) are often of own faction likely resulting in detrimental results even when trying to work for said faction. In Nuakea, a won war (4-0) on the 8th of June resulted in no influence gain for the Crocodiles, but the system's controlling faction's influence gained a boost of over 10 points during the tick the war concluded hinting that the influence may have gone there.

Approximate dates: Approximately since the 1st of June.

Our faction name is Dingos of Duwali - https://inara.cz/minorfaction/77375/, and have already retreated from 3 systems and lost more than 3 assets.

Majority of our systems are either in state of War or Retreat because our Influence has been going down and not increasing much despite completing missions with +++ Influences. Also losing daily Wars despite winning 3 Medium CZs per system.

A note:

Odyssey has "gifted" us several settlements that are always in the crosshairs of assassination missions, eliminate the scavengers (we are the ones who control the bases, we are not scavengers), deactivation of the base, etc. in systems where we do not have odyssey settlements the BGS is more stable and the influence can be increased. Could it be too much to ask that those settlements be taken away from us? Or change something so that only missions come out to destroy us?

Hi all,

Thank you for the feedback so far. Please encourage anyone you know who has been affected to contribute too.

I've made an edit to the original post explaining why the dates are important - please be as specific as possible to help us with the investigation. "Date = always" is not nearly as useful as "I completed X mission for X faction on Xth of May".

If you absolutely can't share an approximate date, thank you for the other details regardless.
