Just looked outside the sky has not fallen in... Unsurprisingly there seem to be a thousand and one conflicting opinions and very little critical thinking.
There will be no more swarms of pirates than there are already the P2P nature is what governs the amount of players in an instance...
I believe the thinking behind the limitations on group size in Wings is more to stop a overwhelming number of players grouped together totally dominating an instance...
Some console players will love ED some will hate it... However Microsoft have yet to have a killer game for their console so one might assume that Microsoft needs Elite more than Elite needs the Xboxone, that is was said from the get go that FD was intended to be release on other formats so that is not news.
As it stands at the moment the hardware performance requirements "min Spec" is outclassed by the Xbox One...

- Quad Core CPU ( 4 x 2Ghz is a reasonable minimum)
- 4 GB System RAM (more is always better)
- DX 10 hardware GPU with 1GB video ram

- The game client works in conjunction with server-based code to deliver its functionality / experience, and therefore requires a continuous internet connection.
That the Xbox is in simplistic terms windows 7 but with only one hardware configeration, does point to making the port less of a start from scratch...
DX12 is coming to PC, some people will not be able to run it though on there systems without upgrading to windows 10 if the buzz is correct, so in many ways it is likely that the real worry... ED will not take advantage of DX12...
So all in all OMGZZZZZZZZZZZZ the sky its still up there...
Edited to add the gamespace ie the galaxy could take every gameplayer on planet earth and still you might not meet another play dependant on your location...
