News Announcement: Elite: Dangerous coming to Xbox One

Who cares if it was designed for cross-platform UI, UX, USP, PDQ?

For goodness sake, it is a very good game which is becoming greater month on month. More revenue means more content and budget. They're not going to keep using revenue to port to more and more platforms every few months. FD seem to have taken the logical step to maximise profit and potential for continuity thereby.

Isn't that what everyone wants? The game becoming what it can be...

Bit early for a aprils fool prank.......so welcome xbox players !!!

I hope the game picks up and others also see that console games are not limited to pew pew anymore.

I tried Call of Duty, and lasted about 4 hours. It was nothing to do with the game, it was the gangs of foul mouthed kids roaming in multi-player using language that made me blush (and I've been in rock bands for 30 years, so that's not an easy thing to do).

If there is someone harassing you verbally on Call of Duty, you can just highlight the player and mute him can't you? If that's not enough, you can also report him.

Concerns.
Panic.
Paranoia.

All over a decision that has already been made.

We had this last year.
It didn't change a bit.
Noone of us is in charge.
You all should know by now how this works.

I'll see you in the void.

Agreed.....Lets pray Karma has it`s way.....

I share this fear. I tried Call of Duty, and lasted about 4 hours. It was nothing to do with the game, it was the gangs of foul mouthed kids roaming in multi-player using language that made me blush (and I've been in rock bands for 30 years, so that's not an easy thing to do).

Well you couldn't have picked a worse game.

I've played Battlefield for years on console with a few groups of mostly 30+ year old's. I've met some great people who have developed into good friends through XBL.

It will also help players with lower end PC's as we'll identify optimisations for the Xbox and Mac that can be brought into the PC version.

Don't make us blind with your common sense Michael :)

Edit: Could you delve into details how upgrading XBO version will happen? Will it happen with much less frequency?

In Destiny, playing a 6 player Raid while everyone communicating on mics, is the most demanding and exciting co-operative playing I've ever experienced. It would be very exciting to see how these kind of co-op missions could be implemented in Elite in the future.

My experience of console players is also extremely positive in that regard.

I have to admit, I find all this "console kiddie" nonsense kinda offensive. We're all gamers, just because I also play a console as well as my PC, does that mean I'm a "kiddie"?

Some of you are ridiculous.

I wonder if Microsoft will demand a minimum level of quality for the game (content, number of ships, missions diversity ...)

Afaik XBone doesn't do expansions so all the stuff about planetary landings etc etc. Will either have to be in the launch game or released as a different game?

..or are we going to lose those now as the Xbone won't cut it?

Let's be clear FD was independent game publisher what is the big deal in game industry now day's, and if they sign one contract with Cartel Corp like MS they clearness and independency will vanish and they will be slaves to end of time...

MS will eat FD by the time and remains will be forgotten like other game company's

Do we really care about low end PCs? That is just spin, plain and simple. Back from the Kickstarter days when we actually believed what DB said - "Elite: Dangerous is an unashamedly high-end PC and Mac game".

Spin, yes we seem to be getting a huge amount of that over the past few months. I guess some of the Frontier guys would get good jobs as politicians ;)

I really find this somewhat unbelievable. First, E:D lacks a lot of technical ambition that would add to gameplay (e.g. Multiscreen Support), it lacks Content that has been announced (we can not even name our own ships, or land on planets - and let us not speak of game saving and single player offline mode), and it has a lot of bugs.

Instead of focusing on making E:D a better game that is more enjoyable, they focus on trying to catch "combat loggers", and now they crank out an Eggsbox version. What for?

It's not a console game, no one will buy a console, get a TV or beamer, buy peripherals to get together with friends and play E:D like Rockband or Wii Sports. There is not business model behind it, neither does it improve the game, nor does it attact new players ("Hey, I could play E:D on my PC, but I'm waiting until the X-Box version comes out, then I'll buy an X-Box and play it for hours on the sofa with flightstick, headset, keyboard etc. until my back hurts").

To me it appears like FD is doing everything to loose more sympathy, instead of taking the criticism seriously and improve the game which has a genuinely good core.

It isn't? Last time I checked it have lot of features for high end PCs. In fact, lot of lower end setups were a bit overlooked at release - thankfully fixed soon afterwards.

I really don't know. I personally see consoles as nice gaming setup boxes. Yeah, they are not "ohh yeah" powerful, but they are still usable. If FD can make them run ED with reasonable performance and visual bling....and get money while doing this....and actually get some bugs fixed which also relates to low end PCs....why not?

Just my two eurocents.

That is actually played by a lot of people with low end PCs. There's no harm to the game to being accessible to more players.
