News Announcement: Elite: Dangerous coming to Xbox One

"If the galaxy is shared, there's the whole balance thing (Controllers vs. PC control combos (and yes, I know a lot plays with Xbox controlelrs, but you still have a keyboard as a backup)."

I only use the keyboard for chat and galaxy map searching. Absolutely everything else I use the controller for. I used a lot of time setting up how to use my 360 controller.

In this thread Edwards already said this:

So it is not decided yet, they are thinking how to make it work.

I hope so, because how will we able to track down a high bounty's player on XBOX if we can't be in the same instances ?

I also hope they will not get any "aiming assistance", it would be very unfair, especially on the FSP expansion.
Since they have peripherials like

This is exactly my X45.

Havnt read the whole thread but, from what I can gather the background sim ( galactic database) will be shared but I dodnt think that consoles will be in the same instances. If this is true then there is no need to have every action possible on the PC mirrored on the console. So I think that modifications to the HUD and other controls could be develpoed JUST for the PC. After all DB has said that in the future 16K screens should be usable as the graphics can be scaled.

Tl;dr: Pc crowd is disgruntled because of ignored potential of their favourite platform and lack of content. Not because Elite: Dangerous is ported over to consoles. Also white knights and fanboys are dumb...

Your last sentence basically summarizes how "mature" your arguments are. You base your doubts and issues on "how it's have to be" and "how it could have been". I have to ask - what is this with romanticizing PC? Setting up proper gaming PC is a nightmare. Buying one - even so. I am IT geek and I was literary wasting weeks of understanding which setup I should get to get ED running smoothly - after all I am not that rich to waste money on new PC every 2 years. Consoles fill that niche. And those are played by actual people wanting to play games! They are gamers as you and I am!

Second, if you really thought that this will be all exclusive PC "ohh so cool interface" game then you should have research things better. FD is quite known with their expierence regarding console games, and they have always tried to appeal to mass market when designing games. This is not EVE, nor FFE or any other niche space game for a reason - it tries to relight that simple fun of first Elite game, yet having quite complex setup behind it. We fly with flight assist - yet we can turn it off and use thruster groups to steer. We could have static galaxy (hey, there are people even coming out they would prefer that, openly), but yet, FD struggles to create this overarching background sim - JUST BECAUSE THEY WANT IT.

But hey, don't let good argument waste your pose of how bad ED is, how bad consoles are, how cool PC is (most of Steam games are trash, or indies, which are playable also on mobiles or consoles)...

Seriously.

wait...
what???

so its basically a private group called Xbox, which runs at min spec?

I don't get it?
whats the problem?

I can see expansions that will leave some pc users behind, how is this any different?

im amazed how you can give folks 400 billion star systems and they still have such narrow minds.

And this ^^ is the kind of pathetic infantile drivel the forums will be full of when it hits the Xbone.

Steve, it is already full of "infantile drivel" of lot of PC users. Face it, forums are used to moan. Being happy? Let's play game, why sit here. Not happy? Let's trash game here while we have bad time. Hey, why not.

People accuse me of white horsing FD. Maybe I am just a fanboi and have to accept that. But why people think they are something better I really don't get it.

Ignored potential. Such an entitled phrase. If you mean by that that PC players are ignored because their PCs aren't pushed to their absolute limits, then I suggest that this tiny minority are crybabies. The game is beautiful, and Frontier has made an excellent choice of making it look really good on a whole range of PCs, not just the mega-maxers.

The fact is this: If E:D sells well on Xbox One, then that income will benefit the PC version (as well as the Xbox One version). This is a good thing.

If it doesn't, then Frontier will have less money to use on development.

I have no idea how many or few players are playing the PC version, but I would really like to know, to get an idea of where the economical support is for E:D.

It will be interesting to see what immature posts will be made by console gamers once the forum section is added.

I think the PC elitists may be quite surprised.

There will be a lot of mud slinging but at least the consoler's will be able to put forward their opinions in a fair manner.

Wow, just -WOW! This is why i love "ignore this user" functionality. You seem to take what i type as a personal attack towards you, so do yourself a favour: STOP reading my posts.
E. Never mind, i'm out of here. Too many people acting out. Talking to a wall is more likely to produce sensible results...

I don't think that's the issue, I believe that a lot of people are upset because the game has been designed from day 1 with the port to consoles in mind, that's why so many awesome things in the DDF were simply dropped as the xb1 can't handle that. So what I figure is some people are feeling betrayed after they funded the game and now it seems that it might have been toned down from the start as they always had the consoles in mind.

I seem to remember about two years ago, David Braben was asked about consoles in an interview.....

....he said "we'd be daft to ignore the possibility" (or words to that effect).

So its really no surprise to me that its coming to consoles.

The fact that its coming on the M$ XBone rather than the PS4 makes me feel ill though.

That is actually played by a lot of people with low end PCs. There's no harm to the game to being accessible to more players.

Michael

One of the reasons I bought in is because the game will cope with the i5-based PC I've got (which had no extra graphics card). I *added* a graphics card, albeit quite a lowly one, and now I'm toying with the idea of replacing that and the PSU (albeit for a different reason)... but whilst I know it's going to be very expensive to build a box which can support everything turned up to 11, even at 1080p60, I am content with the fact that the game element of ED is unaffected by these financial limitations/extravagances.

And any optimisations FD can roll out, regardless of platform, potentially leaves spare resources which could be utilised for even more gorgeous eye candy to please everyone who spends more on their PCs than I could personally justifiy.

If this is what is required to keep both ED and FD going, expanding to new platforms and a wider audience without the game play suffering, then Bring It On.

To a lot of us there's a big difference, that's the point. :) I think you actually understand this but, like me, enjoy arguing, or playing devil's advocate, for the sake of it sometimes. ;)

Objectively there isn't really a difference, but sure, subjectively there always is no matter the subject.

And yes...like you I do enjoy arguing...I wouldn't "achive" this kind of post count count or "unlocked" the Deadly rank on the forum otherwise. BTW...when does it tick over to Elite? You should know. ;)

Please stop repeating that because that's not true. There's almost none stuff in DDF which couldn't be handled by XBO. Stop jump to conclusions. DDF is not fully implemented because it's huge amount of work.
