[ANNOUNCEMENT] Win an Nvidia Geforce Titan Black in our in-game Scavenger Hunt

I loved the fact that it was random (if it was). It gave us slower witted folk a chance :p

Pragmatism is rarely rewarded. It's even worse when there are signals that it might be, and you spend time and effort on something on that basis, and then after 4 days they say, "Oh, sorry, we thought it was implicit that your brain wasn't needed for you to compete. You just had to be in the place. You were competing to be in a place, you see, but not most places! That's the IntelliSys way."

Test your luck!

There were not only signals...it was called a "scavenger hunt", so no subtile implications needed.
At least the german translation means it's a hunt from clue to clue.
No bitterness here, i just doubt that it was random.

Don't open this image unless you really want to know the location:

I can't see absolutely no relation with Godel Ring, Ededleen, Leesti, Reinhardt IntelliSys, etc have fun trying to figure it out. :)

This must be it:

Yeap, can't wait for the official announcement and hopefully some enlightenment.

Really ? That sucks !
So it's completely random ! In this case :

1 - It isn't a scavenger hunt ! If you are on a huge island with a treasure map you don't dig holes at random !
2 - We asked so many times if it's random, but no response from FD ! But when someone asked if the image for the contest is a clue, he got a direct response : "No it's not. That is illustrative." ( https://twitter.com/EliteDangerous/status/582553537059635200 ). With that it's pretty easy to infer that there must be clues in the game !
3 - Finally, it would mean that they have intentionally made false clues to force players to think that there would be a riddle (a good way for FD to get people into the game) ! Many people spend a lot of time to try to deduce the location from these fales clues, and it's downright wrong to lie to them that way!

I really hope that there is a logic accessible for all behind this, and not just a pretext to justify that this isn't random !

LOL, I like that.

I just did a search, and "Langford" comes up in 9 different systems.

EDIT: The clue was there. So it wasn't entirely random like some people are complaining.

EDIT2: I finally started looking about 7 hours ago for the heck of it. What I did find are some amazing trade routes I made note of. Time to park the Cobra and grab something bigger to make some moolah!

Which system was it?

Ah: Langford Enterprises, 17 Lyrae.

So was there are clue that led to 17 Lyrae, or the Lyra constellation?

Which constellation was Saturn in on the 25th?

Nope not that.

EDIT: Argh though I'd spoliered it

EDIT2: I think finding someone random at NVIDIA who happens to share the surname is a bit tenuous - it's not a "clue" is it. From everything I've checked so far it's just a random station, presumably picked because it was a low-to-zero traffic system. Unless someone finds a clever link, so much more could have (should have!?!?) been done with this.

I hope one thing FD have learnt from this competition is that generally, people like to use their brains to solve mysteries. I hope that bounty hunting in the future can use elements of investigation/problem solving to find the target - for example implement a station log of ships/commanders (both PC and NPC) that have docked/departed in the last 24 hrs. The initial mission description gives the first clue, and from there it's up to the player to track down the quarry by following the breadcrumbs.

chuffed to bits for the chaps that won/win was a great few days speculating on what and where etc. Looking forward to the next one but really really hope FDEV see the potential in this and actually add some reason behind its location, randomness really takes the gloss of it for me personally but then again I never did enjoy pin the tail on the donkey!

A company of 8800 people has an employee with the same last name as the station.

I'm sorry, but that's not gonna cut it, what's the connection.

Well I am going to kill any DEV's I see flying around in the game for wasting my time, I wouldn't have bothered to look if I had known it was just a random station out of the 1000's.
