[ANNOUNCEMENT] Win an Nvidia Geforce Titan Black in our in-game Scavenger Hunt

Well I've really enjoyed it.

Who'd like to contribute a single post to a 'what was good/what was bad' feedback thread?

I've really enjoyed it too, but only because I thought that I found sometimes the correct solution to a riddle with hints !
A feedback thread could be interesting ! If the location was random FD need to change something in their communication !

Surely only one post is required?

1) Winning free stuff (especially expensive hardware that us geeks love) is a Good Thing™.

2) Expectations are important - if it's a puzzle or if it's random is irrelevant - just make it clear which.

To be fair Frontier said in the newsletter that they expected it to happen in a matter of hours. I really don't think they thought it would last four days.

Thing is, there are timezones. This competition went live as i was at work, and i had many things to do in the evening. I'd be sorely disappointed if winning would be based on being able to play 24/7.

Instead, i could finish all my real life things and get to flying around the galaxy for a while. Good stuff.

There was nothing about riddle or puzzle in the message, why did you people even think there's one? Our little group of players were shocked to see all the wild conspiracies in the thread as we were just flying around randomly.

Now, we didn't win either, but you get the point.

True, but Frontier have previous form for being "clever" with things like this - hence there was a bit of expectation that this would be similar - particularly given that they bothered making the link between NVIDIA and an in-game faction.

Maybe because FD said it's a scavenger hunt !
Maybe because FD said "We expect the competition will move fast" ! How it could move fast if it's random ?
Maybe because it's strange to find "Reynhardt IntelliSys" in the Galnet post for this contest !
Maybe because FD didn't respond when we asked if it was a random location ! (very bad communication about that)
Maybe because FD claimed that the image for the contest isn't a clue : https://twitter.com/EliteDangerous/status/582553537059635200

Because it was a crazy amount of fun to play that way.

Come up with an idea, find a hit, travel there, tension increases, pop out of supercruise, dock, tension increases again, check the market...

It was fun. That's why.

Aye, I always felt Reynhardt was sticking out like a sore Chekhov's Revolver.

I enjoyed the whole thing, it got me flying around to new systems, a load of exploration data whilst doing so and a lot of laughter reading some of the forum posts :D

*On a side note, whatever happened to Blood Lust and his assurance that he had found one last night :p

Well, I enjoyed it and I couldn't even take part (might be heading back to civilisation if I can find the black hole in the system I am in tonight).

I would be interested to find out if there is/was a clue or if it was in fact just random.

1. Nothing stops being scavenger hunt if location is random
2. Easily - due to large number of players and relatively small populated systems bubble.
3. Nah, it was good, otherwise it would mean people who stalk them on forums get an advantage.
4. I don't get this point. Ok, they said it's not a clue. Don't search for it in USS, then? I know i spent an hour on that, remembering the strong signal and how there'd be ancient artifact lying around and then SUDDENLY 3 anacondas.

Also because putting something in one station in one system in 500 square LY of inhabited space and expecting people to happily mill through them one by one, completely at random, without putting any thought into the impossible task set before them until they just happen to stumble across it, is completely daft.

I still have no idea how we had 3-4 days of nothing but hoaxes and then suddenly five confirmed finds within like five hours. We didn't even get any information on it until the second or third one. Not implying anything, but the chances of that must be astronomically low. I think there was one list of systems visited that was posted in this thread, and aside from that there were small couples of systems mentioned every now and then in individual posts. A large number of players doesn't matter much if we're not sharing data. And the number of populated systems in the area is massive.

So is it actually unlimited supply, like can you just go in with a T9, fill it to the brim immediately and then sell it all for 24k per ton?
