And what if they had put more thoughts on the contest in order to create a real scavenger hunt with multiple and accessible hints so nobody can't complain ?

So what ? You're trying to say that the right solution was to do nothing but to try all of the stations of the populated area at random ?

Because it seems that was the right way to find the cards ! And don't you think that it would have been correct to inform those who spent hours to resolve a possible riddle that they are wasting time for nothing ?

From a marketing point of view we created so many contents on this thread and attract players for FD because of their ambiguity ! That's great for them, but I don't want to be part of this kind of farce next time !

Well at least some people were able to participate at all in some fashion.

I've been stuck locked in a station's instance since the other night and unable to leave.

I can't say I'm not upset about the fact that it was random.

On the bright side now I know a lot of station names variants, look! City, depot, dock, enterprise, gateway, hangar, hub, installation, legacy, orbital, platform, port, settlement, station, survey, terminal, vision...

No, what I'm saying is that they didn't state either way and so you shouldn't claim it was at random until you know for sure.

I had to do it twice, I generally never play in solo but it was so late at night that I didn't want to do it more than once... plus i'd only seen the post on twitter and it didn't mention about open play on there. It was only when I had docked and sold the first one I found this thread and read all the rules and realized I was going to have to do it again in open anyway doh! So switched back in to open and did it all again...

Oh the shame!!

Some of the theories put forward have been hilarious......much like the "Venus" discoveries mentioned by Sagan in "Cosmos"....

When they first saw Venus through a scope, and saw it TOTALY covered with clouds.....their minds began to race........Clouds? That must mean water.....and if there is water, there might be life.....but, there is so much cloud, it must be Really humid and wet, like in ancient times, when Dinos ruled the earth and the world was hotter and wetter...........so maybe there are Jungles down there, with Dinosaurs......

If it wasn't at random they didn't create a great hint because nobody found the connection in 4 days !

I'm not so annoyed in fact about this event !
But now that I know the system location I can only think that it was at random.
And because of that it seems that I was manipulated by FD strategy during these 4 days, putting new contents here to help other Cmdrs to move forward on the possible riddle ! Now I think I will spend some time to let FD know that I'm a little upset, and that this event could have been done with a better communication !

But I'll wait FD response about the truth behind the location of the station. Maybe there is really an accessible logic behind this case !

Personally (and I know most will disagree with me on this) I think it was to show people that their fears of being ganked if they play Open are completely misguided. I've been playing in Open mode since Gamma and I have inly been interdicted once by a player.

Do you have actual figures for that claim about comments by the way? Because normally what happens is people see an argument on the forum one day, see a contrasting argument on the forum the next, and just lump them both into "those people" when it's actually two different people making different claims. I suspect you're mixing up "PvP needs to be pushed or supported" with "can't be bothered to try PvP"... I rather doubt there is any actual overlap between those two viewpoints frankly, except for the altruistic who would like others to be happy as well. That doesn't mean they're going to do it themselves however;I might want everyone to have great sex, but it doesn't mean I want to have sex specifically with you...

Hehe, I obviously don't have actual figures but I have been using these forums since June of last year and that discussion has been raised many, many, many, many times. Just one example would be people starting threads complaining for the lack of PvP and then when someone suggests they make a Private Group which is focussed on PvP, strangely nothing comes of it because no-one can be bothered to organise it. However they really hate the fact that over 4,000 people play in Mobius's PvE group and so aren't around for them to try and kill.

I was half expecting to see this thread end with a video of someone flattening a Sidewinder, and captioning it "LOLZ LOLZ I BLO UP JOO" whilst they are mocking them in local chat for losing nearly 4 weeks wages worth of potential prize, and then a few days later crying about "WHY U NO WANT FIGHT MAH?". The idea that people don't enjoy being humiliated, and maybe if you want more fights, you need to show a bit of restraint never seems to occur to a certain player type.
