Not sure if someone's already asked this but I wonder what a non-PL purchaser would see when a PL purchaser flies down to a planet. If it IS actually a seamless experience for the player performing the landing and both PL and non-PL owners share the same universe, it seems to me that this scenario could easily come up.

I think it was Braben who mentioned that there'd be a similar thing to Frame Shift, so presumably people will drop out of Frame Shift drive into a new dimension not visible to non-PL purchasers. Just a guess, mind.

DEVELOPERS 10 years ago:
developing the game so close as possible to perfection.
2 - establish day output.
3 - beta test commissioned expert gamers
4- sell the game.
Final A: The game is very good then sells
Final B: the game is ugly zero sales.
Bug? What are the bugs? continuous development? why ? the game is complete and perfect.

DEVELOPERS TODAY (with the kind help of the fanboy)
1 - developing the game for about 30%
2- early access
3-Fanboy pay the fee for access to the beta test.
4- no guarantee of delivery
5 - no guarantee of contents
6 - after a year of sales the game may have reached 40% of development.
7- DLC, incomplete game asks other funds to be finished, fanboy publish
in all forums of the game Futurama Fry gif "Shut up and take my money!"
8- bug, incomplete, time passes and characteristics as that two years ago they were cool after 2 years lose the confrontation with the new game around.
9 - game development now completely stopped for months, with output expansion
total price of the game. fanboy pay.
10 - Developers claim that they will continue to develop (end) the game. Fanboy
Thanks for the effort.
11 - Game always incomplete, bugs, crashes, etc. developers announced the second title in the series and of course you ask for money for development.

Thanks Fanboy thanks, because you support the development of games with 10 second trailer and no information and thanks because you are ready to give absurd amounts of money with no guarantee. Thanks to your behavior in the game industry has become increasingly poor and hungry for money, remember that many beautiful and historical games have been developed with little money and only thanks to the talent and passion of serious developers. Thanks again.

So, do I understand this correctly that the "planetary landing" that everyone is loosing their minds about is really "moon landings" and the actual planetary landings are coming in season 2 or season 3 ? That means assuming what was mentioned about how long a season is and depending on which feature will be prioritized we should expect full planetary landings about 1 or 2 years from now ?

now THAT was a truly epic crappy teaser ...

i wish it's simply frontier didn't want to waste valuable development effort on demos, shows and marketing. yeah, not a very rational wish, i know ...

whatever. looking forward to it!

Looking forward to landings, 1st place I'll visit is the earth like planet I discovered back in January, and if I cant land on that then 1 of the rocky planets in the same system :)

Roll on exploring Stations, and 1st person roaming and boarding (season 3 hopefully) :)

So, watched the video, reached for wallet. Total time, 5 mins (including "asking" the wife if it was ok). I read the description on the Store for Horizons, just to make sure...and found this, not sure this was mentioned anywhere else, but it really got me _more_ excited:

A WHOLE SEASON OF EXPANSIONS, WITH REGULAR MAJOR UPDATES INCLUDED IN THE SINGLE PURCHASE

A SEASON OF CONTENT

The second major update for Elite Dangerous: Horizons will release in Q1 2016 with more expansions to follow.
This second major update will include additional gameplay-focused content including an all-new game-changing loot and crafting system.

No planets with atmospheres yet I think mate - ye olde rocky planyts onlye

It is actually the only way to do it, I can't see us doing an atmospheric entry at 30KM/S (minimum speed in frameshift phase) and up, we would burn down to ashes, so we have to exit frameshift phase before entering planet atmosphere, it's all about realism, just like we can't enter a station at that speed LOL

Personally, and this is only my opinion, i see Frontier using both platforms as a sort of relay race. Xbox received CQC first. Frontier has stated CQC will become available to PC when official release of Xbox game. Im willing to bet that will be not too long before Horizons comes out. So, PC will get CQC & Horizons about the same time. Using PC to hammer out the issues with horizons. Next summer Horizons will become available to xbox along with some other update. Basically keep going back and forth throwing each group a bone first.

No. In the Q&A today David Braben said that they planned to release CQC on PC the day or two after the Xbox release. 1.4 should be released at the same time and then there's 1.5 to come before Horizons is released (I reckon on, or around, the 1 year anniversary).

Yeah, cos it's so realistic at present.

Imagine players who just bought the game in the last few weeks, i know i would be well peed off.

Hi. I've owned this game for all of 3 weeks. Absolutely livid about this.

Does this mean that I can expect to get a refund for the majority of the price of the game? I mean, if you're basically now saying 'this game is now worth £10, with the expansion being worth £30'...

And I thought charging £40 for a game and then charging an additional £5 if you want to change the colour of your ship was a bit cheeky ¬_¬

You could feasibly achieve half that speed for the initial de-orbit phase with good shields and heat managment. Space Shuttle's de-orbit burn speed was c. 17,000 miles per hour or roughly 7.5km per second.
