I'm very curious about what's coming during the Horizons season, after the initial release.

By the time Horizons launches, we'll have CQC mode, and at least 11 new ships, and landing on airless planets.. and we don't get landing on ELWs etc. until the following season. So what's in between, during the Horizons season? (e.g. 2.1, 2.2, 2.3...)

I'd guess the initial release will be fairly basic, with not a huge amount of surface-side content; and that's what will be fleshed out during the subsequent releases.

Has it been confirmed if we can 'walk around' leaving the pilots seat?
Or do we control the buggy via video from the ship?

I really want to be excited, but I guess once bitten twice shy. There is no actual footage, the 'news' is just FD repeating that they want to release an expansion 12 months after release(which they always said). Previous trailers are nothing like the game and include actions/activities not even in the main game. Very few of the core game features used to gain funding for this game have yet to appear, and no comment on their absence...

...but of course 'Pre-order now available'...hmmm.

Help I am confused.. i bought the ED premium beta for £100 way back last year. I now go to the merchandise store and see that I can purchase ED horizons beta for £49.99 but I can also buy for £130 a lifetime expansion pass.

Didn't i get a lifetime expansion pass when i bought premium beta? if not what does this £130 a lifetime expansion pass get me now?

Hm, ok...I read now all the pages in this thread, of course I read the anouncement too...and I am not excited at all

I will just wait for further informations and more videos of what that expansion will give to us. Not ready yet to spend money on that (and yes, I knew that those expansions would not be for free, no problem with that in general).

My guess would be that either you need to dock at a base to access a vehicle or they will be something like remote control drones. abandoning your ship on the surface could get risky otherwise

Found this. Rodina, a game that gives you now what frontier is promising over the next ten years.
Graphically it is comparable with elite 2 but has first person view, walk round your ship and walk round planets.
All that for £10.99 on steam. Check out the website.
The game is also customizable, build your own ship etc

So it looks like we will get new seasons every year or so? Horizons is the first season. Or perhaps the second season if you consider everything up to now the first season.

That's extremely disappointing. I just purchased the lifetime expansion pass for $150 and now I'm told I will have to take the back seat? I never saw anywhere on the Frontier store that it was PC only.

Shouldn't somewhere on your store this be mentioned???

Mac users are again made second class citizens, very disappointing news. I'm thinking about asking for a refund.

Yes walking around is a planned feature,but not for horizons as far as i understand horizons is the expansion and the season of updates.so this means no walking around during horizons, but i might be wrong on what a "season" is.

The pricing is an insult to the people who have already purchased the game and I will not be investing. I have, similarly, cautioned my friends against getting the game, since I now see the true colors of Frontier's monetization strategies.

Not sure what you are talking about. I bought the original game for 50 and I now had to pay 40 for the expansion.

The only people not having to pay for this are the hardcore backers.

The only thing I see here is that you are looking into the future and say things that you have no clue at all to actually _know about_.

At this point I would call you a false prohet.

What he's talking about is that it's been explicitly stated by Micheal in this thread that if you don't own the game now, and you buy ED:H for £40 in December, that gets you the base game plus the Horizons expansion. Whereas if you do own the game now, and spent £40 on it at any point pre-December, if you then want Horizons it'll cost you an extra £30.

Well, if you had ED beta already then buying the lifetime pass doesn't give you anything right now but as soon as Horizon beta is out we will get it in our updates as well as all future "seasons" (expansions)

Beta's typically have a stand-alone server and separate client files.
The last beta was for testing power play and it self-uninstalled once that went 'live' as v1.3. There isn't a current 'beta' to play with.
