Community Event / Creation Announcing The Azophi Expedition - The Explorer's Consortium

Good Morning/Afternoon all

CMDR Azazul here aka Phil Thomson of the Explorer's Consortium. As promised, here is the next update from the expedition leadership team. Also as promised, I'll keep this as light as possible.

Cross Platform and Cross Country Volunteers
  • We have received several responses to our call for volunteers. We will be reaching out to those individuals over the next 2 weeks.
  • We are looking for a few more volunteers to help them. We are looking for folks from the following categories to help execute events. Since we are an Xbox group, mostly in the US, it will be difficult for us to have a foot print in these groups, so we are looking to make sure we can include everyone.
  • Xbox - UK
  • PC -US
  • PC -UK
  • If you are interested in helping, please send an email to explorersconsortium@gmail.com.

Expedition Patches
  • The patches are here and they're awesome. If you would like to purchase a patch, the prices is $5 USD (per patch) plus $2.67 shipping and handling (per shipment).
  • Shipping and handling will be more for international folks, that will be on a case by case basis.
  • To purchase a patch send an email to explorersconsortium@gmail.com and we will forward you the paypal information . You will be presented with two options, friends and family and goods and services. If you select goods and services, please add an additional 10% to the cost. These patches came out of my pocket and my wife would like me to not lose money on them.

Flagship Application
  • And finally, we are accepting applications for the expedition flagship.
  • The form can be found here: Expedition Flagship Application
  • FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY
  • Incomplete applications will be not be accepted

The post has been updated CMDR's! Please read it for some more information.

Quick TL;DR below

-Sign ups will be closing 4/21/2017
-Duration of the entire expedition is approximately 12 weeks. Waypoints have all been planned and laid out and will be released gradually as the expedition progresses.
-Some sections of the route need 32.6 LY Laden jump range.
-127 sign ups at the time of posting!!
-and last but not least, Expedition Patches are available!

Thanks, CMDR's!

I'm not sure if I'll be going on the expedition now. There is a bug with recalled ships on planet surfaces. I recalled my DBX earlier from my SRV only to watch fly down and crash into the planet's surface, subsequently destroying it. There is an open bug report, however I doubt it will be fixed before the expedition since there was a patch released today.

A rebuy is of little consequence to me, but potentially losing exploration data would not be pleasant. There's a week to think things through and hope for another patch, but I thought I'd offer a head's up.

Sure this is a new bug? I hear about at least one of these a week and I have since we have been able to land.

Never said it was a "new" bug. In fact I said there was an open ticket.

In fact, it is just a question. I wanted to make sure we weren't dealing with something new that was introduced by the server update today that could impact the expedition in ways that were not already calculated for. I'm sure FDev will take care of you, since this has been an issue for almost a year now.

This happened to me a while back - but turns out it was mis-managed power settings onboard. When i powered up the planetary hanger it took offline some other systems, including (accidentally) the thrusters. so when the ship respawned in my instance the thrusters were automatically offline and it ust crashed to the surface.

Lesson learned: I am not a smart man

Don't be so hard on yourself. If it's any consolation to you, you're not the only one. That is exactly what happened to me. I just bought the DBX after the update to see how it was after the buff. Through all the kitting and engineering (and there is a lot of engineering) I completely overlooked properly setting up the power management. As soon as I read your post I knew what had happened. I didn't have to wait until I was back in the game.

The upside is at least this happened now while still in the bubble instead later during the expedition, hundreds or thousands of LYs outside of the bubble.

I hope everyone is having a good time on the expedition so far. Here's a couple of random shots from it so far.

Had a little accident. It wasn't anything major but only being the first week of the expedition I was glad this was close by.

The meet-up tonight was much needed. Over the last couple of days I had thought about dropping out and heading back to the bubble. Below are a few pics from this week.

The mass jump at the end of last nights meet-up at Phi Cassiopeiae was the first one I actually got to participate in. Attempts at the three previous meet-ups resulted in a crash to the XBL dashboard for some reason.

Here's a few screenshots from this week.
