If anyone wants to see what to expect from the next few months I'd check what fdev released in the runup to Planet Zoo release.

edit - rather than making things up, or trying to remember what happened in 2014.

Yeah the PZ schedule for their November 2019 release is probably a good steer.

They started with:

  • Trailer (April 24th)
  • A pretty generic my day in the office style affair (May16th)
  • A diary with an overview of some key design / gameplay aspects (May 28th)
  • A diary on a gameplay strand, but with only a touch of detail IE creativity in habitat design (June 5th)
  • A vid overview (June 20th)

I sincerely hope the first dev diary is more informative than that first "my day in the office" for Planet Zoo:

"My typical day-to-day would usually involve getting to my desk and working through my list of features; if anyone on the gameplay code team has issues to raise or need suggestions on things I’m always around to work it out together. I’m a liaison for other teams in the project when we need to figure out the best approach for each challenge we come across, so that usually involves checking something at other people’s desks or being in a meeting where we make sure everyone's on the same page for what we're working on."

And to see the whoops of delight in the comments that follow it must give FD the signal that this type of "reveal" is totally acceptable ! 😬

Yeah that one is all flannel. I’d expect something similar though. Just a 'this is the start of the doors opening' signifier and not much more.

They’ve started their hype run that much earlier than normal, they’re likely to spool it out as much as possible early on :/

You've been here long enough to know that Frontier will do what they like and take little notice of the forum outrage of the day.

What?!?!?!!?
You're saying they don't listen to my rants!!!?
Ugh, I've been playing Elite since 1984, ED since GPP, I bought numerous store items and I pay for my Xbox Live subscription to play online, I even had some shares in Fdev, had, I sold them again sorry.
I demand they listen to me, ME, I'm entitled by now, I have a Cobra mk4 to show for it.

Ugh, you just ruined my self-esteem and my illusion of importance, I'm putting you on my ignore list you hear?!?!

Ugh, all these posts for nothing.........

With everyone working form home at present i think people need to be aware that a video might not be of the same quality as those planet zoo ones in terms of presentation.

I think a text diary with some pics giving some sneek peeks of whats to come are what we will probably get. Maybe a short 20 second video sequence of showing something like animating walking or crouching. That type of thing.
