If I'm given a parking ticket, then the town that issued the ticket is going to be able to receive payment for the fine. Now let's imagine this town is in Hawaii. It would be ludicrous to go into the town office and find a sign saying, "To pay your parking fines, please visit the Los Angeles Police Department.

I earned a 50 credit fine for shooting a rock in my SRV just inside the NFZ of an outpost in the Lagoon Nebula (I missed the hard-to-read warning text). This is what I now see:

I had hoped to make this my base of operations for awhile, but now I'm locked out of the services I need. Luckily in this specific case, there is also an asteroid base in this nebula, but what if there wasn't? The nearest IF station is well over 4000 LY away! And I really wanted to operate from this outpost, not the asteroid base...

This is utter rubbish and completely illogical. Any outpost that issues a fine needs to be able to accept payment for that fine.


Frontier, might you consider clearing this fine for Jenny_Diver on PS4? You can even take the 50 credits out of her account! I promise not to shoot any more rocks inside the NFZ..

Interesting. Normally there is a station contact tab where you can pay fines - why does that one not have one? Is it a bug, or because of the nature of the station?

It might be a bug, it might not, at this point you can't even tell anymore.
If it's a bug I'm sure Fdevs are looking into it 🙄

Well if it is a bug, then there is a good chance Frontier will clear the fine for me using their magic. Anyone have the link for their support page where I can open a ticket?

If you can find the forums then there's a link under 'Frontier Network' in the header.

I don't get it. You can still refuel there, and then go to a station that does have an authority contact/factors and clear it, surely?

Can't recall the exact circumstances but I recently discovered that fines incurred while driving the SRV can't be paid in the ship the SRV boards in the jurisdiction where you incur the fine.

I was shooting rocks on the way to a surface outpost in my SRV and got fined.
Got into my ship at the outpost, tried to pay the fine but there was no sign of it.
Checked my Transactions HUD; nothing.

Figured the game must have "forgotten" about the fine, went and did something else, swapped ships and noticed the original ship had the "hot ship" tag.
Swapped back into it, checked the Transactions HUD. Nothing. No fines displayed.
Went to an IF and, sure enough, it gave me the opportunity to pay the fine I'd earned in my SRV back at the outpost.

If you ever get a "hot ship" tag and there's no indication of why, it might be because it's carrying an SRV that you did commit some crime in.

I kind of wonder what'd happen if I'd stored that SRV, or transferred it to another ship.
Then I realise that I don't really care and the whole thing makes my head hurt.

Interesting, sounds buggy - wonder if you could clear the fine by exploding the SRV - guess I can try that!

Speaking of self-destruct, if my ship explodes out here while I have a fine (not a bounty), will I respawn here in the nebula, or will I get an express ticket to a corrections facility back in the Bubble?

That's another 15000 LY in the other direction, LOL. I already tried paying the fine at the local asteroid base, but no joy.

A fine will be ok - you'll just respawn there. Now if you start pad loitering and get a bounty - you can get a free trip back home ;)

Same thing happened to me on my last trip to Colonia, the base did not have the contacts menu either. Since the controlling faction was something Colonia-related, I thought that it is just a fine and I can pay it at the next stop. Only real problem for me was that I had a Tourist on the ship and she got a bit upset that I fired while in my SRV.
There are certainly several stations without the contacts menu, but since most are in the bubble, it is just a bit inconvenient. In those isolated Systems, I agree that there should be a way to pay fines, especially if it is not just a stop to a different destination.
