Another solution to ganker problem

As many have repeated here ad nauseum all the tools and tactics exist within the game to mitigate ganks.

Go join a lawful PVP group if you want to improve your flying skills beyond the basics. SOJ for instance.
We dont need to mitigate ganks when not in Open, there are none.
And as we have said 'ad nauseam' it takes no flying skill whatsoever to gank a transport ship.

While there are tools and tactics to mitigate ganks, it still does not mean that I or anybody else NEED TO LIKE presence of useless gankers in the game. Those people are basically trolling all others, without any positive contribution.

It's fitting that you need to paint with such a broad brush to continue the myth.

I play the way I play because what I do is fun for me. Others play the way they play because what they do is fun for them. Or satisfying, or cathartic, whatever.

Why do you play games?

I know Cmdrs who are fiercely pro-xeno. I have no doubt that at some level they are choosing a justification for targeting other players in a situation where they have the advantage but they are playing the game as activists & enjoy it, because it's fun for them.

This thread is about open, why are you here?

It takes no skill whatsoever to escape a gank when flying a transport ship.

Elite Dangerous is a light simulation sandbox that requires self reliance.

Whatever you think of murderhobos is irrelevant.

The tools, with which to be successfully self-reliant in open, exist within the game.

If you knowingly don't avail yourself of that, and the associated skillset, then you only have yourself to blame.

There is a positive effect, in moderation. That was my point when I put up the link to Bartle's taxonomy. Too much is bad, too little is bad too. The players that get attacked won't feel that way about it of course, but the bigger picture is the game needs PKers & if all the current ones methods (direct PvP) were banned or otherwise eliminated there will still be griefers & killers, just of a different kind. Killers are an intrinsic part of any community just as explorers, achievers & socialisers are.

imho... it's all fun.

Evading ganks... is fun.

Personally, I see "seal clubbing," as boring and makes no sense to me because I enjoy a challenge. I can also see that some folks get a rise out of exploding those who chose to continually fly defenseless, salt-mining.
I gank in another title but it's against fully capable combatants. If I screw up, or if I'm caught unawares, I get clobbered. I need to know my escape envelope before committing.

Challenging gameplay.

Nevertheless, as I mentioned in another thread on this board the problem with PVP in this game is that it simply isn't strategically incorporated within the gameplay.

So, other than organized PVP the only other PVP that exists is... ganking.

I do have tools and skills enough to do so. BUT it really gets repetitive and irritating to do submit, highwake, repair possible damage rinse and repeat when I try to do my business. At best gankers add tediousness, at worst moments of rage.

As many have repeated here ad nauseum all the tools and tactics exist within the game to mitigate ganks.

Mitigating the ganks can be possible, ofc.
But it's either a disruptive path - if we talk about ax cz instance, they will disrupt the instance and make everyone flee, so wasted time for everyone involved
Or involves playing in a way that's not optimal and or unwanted. For example, in the same scenario of ax cz instance, shieldless cold builds are extremely vulnerable to long range rail sniping. And the gankers i checked in the said ax cz setup, all of them had emissive lasers turrets.
So having gankers around such events means flying ax cold builds is not quite feasible, so i'm forced to fly a shield tank or not fly at all in open in a public ax cz

So while mitigating gankers is possible, they will still manage to ruin everyones experience.
Even the minimum effect of blocking them and having to quit and restart the client - this still can have negative outcomes like not being able to get back that instance and having to waste time finding another instance and so on.

And no, dont kid yourself by saying a shieldess ax ship, already damaged and fighting an interceptor, is a fully capable opponent for a ganker.

It's a game, stop taking it so seriously. If you get outraged you need to rethink what you're doing.

Or, if there are gankers at the AXCZ get in your combat-built FDL, wing up with others, and have a good time blowing them up.
