Any Civ players hereabouts?

What it says in the title. Just casting the net to see if there's enough of us around to make it worth having a thread. Apologies if there's something already, but I did a search and didn't find anything...

Sooo...

Anybody?

Steam claims I've played 707 hours of Civ V since it was released in 2010. ;)

Played a fair amount of the earlier games too.

Currently I have 7 PBEM style games on the go via http://multiplayerrobot.com/

So, yes I do play a little. ;)

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
I like a good 4X, how I'm going to manage Civ:Beyond Earth and Gal Civ III without losing all my Elite time I don't know! :D

Really looking forward to Beyond Earth myself. :) I've watched all the livestreams that Firaxis has put out and I still want more, lol.

I clocked 113 hours on Civ V, according to Steam. I really like that game, played it since the very first one years ago, but I skipped III or IV I think.

Played the first on the Amiga, then picked up IV a few years ago.

I much prefer IV to V.

although I do like Civ 5, I still find the AI does weird things.

I have been playing since the first Civ on my Amiga.

I was recently spreading the good news of Elite.

Anyone fancy a little game via multiplayer robot then? I'm happy to set one up and send out invites.

PM me your email address if you want to play.

Ok then, so we have the makings of a group. Cards on the table time:

I've played every version of the game that has ever existed. Currently playing V (Steam is showing 3566 hours and counting - holy moly!:eek:). My favourite characters to play right now are Casimir, Pocatello and Boudicca, and my least favourite AI characters to play against are Alexander (the man is an animal!) and Catherine. I don't play online (or at least I haven't up to now...), but have reached the point where I can beat the AI more often than not at Emperor level and these days never play below King level. I like to build alliances with city-states, and seem to get the best results going for a political victory (which is odd because in real life I hate politicians of all shades with a passion... ).

Can't wait to get my stickies on Beyond Earth and will be gnawing my way to the front of the queue come Oct 24th. I've watched quite a lot of the video footage as well - general structure will be familiar to anyone who's played V, although the new research tree is gonna be fun!

I've played since picking up a cheap Civ I in a bargain bin. Been playing Civ IV for years. I tried Civ V, but didn't like it.
But now there's Elite, so that takes up all my spare time:D

I'm another Civ player. I didn't take too much notice until Civ 5, though. According to Steam, I've only played Civ 4 for 24 hours but I've spent over 1400 hours in Civ 5! Never played multiplayer, though.

I'm currently in the process of uprooting my life and transporting it across the country for a career change, so I don't have much time for the Elite beta, and none for Civ. That should change in the next few weeks, though...

I play a lot of Civ V, have played all the series, since the original game on my Atari ST back in the day.

Steam says I've played 1322 hours of Civ V...! Currently playing a huge size map, aiming for a domination victory. Normally only play single player, but occasionally play multiplayer.

All the best with the house move. Recently done the same thing myself. We've been in the new place 6 weeks, and are down to around 4 or 5 minor boxes and beginning to feel like we're properly in now.

Bit of a long one this, but bear with me...

I've got back into this quite a lot recently after taking a bit of a break. Historically I've always found the diplomatic victory easiest to achieve because I seem to be good at getting and keeping the city-states on my side; but in the last week or two I've been going after a cultural victory.

Is it just me, or is it *really, really* hard to achieve? Last game I played, I turned down a diplomatic victory 2 or 3 times to pursue the cultural one, but there's always one civ that seems able to hold out. I wound up building the spaceship because I'd calculated that I'd need another 50 or 60 turns to overcome them despite a massive tourism count (over 1000 p.t.), and I didn't have the stamina to grind it out for that long with overwhelming superiority in all other areas. I suppose I could have wiped out that civ (which with my military advantage I could have done I think), but I shouldn't need to do that.... should I? In any case it would have felt a bit odd to have achieved a cultural victory by wiping out another civ.

I was playing against the AI at level 5 ('Emperor' IIRC).

So, anybody?

I managed to achieve the cultural victory ONCE, despite many tries and it was on AI level 4 IIRC... It is hard to achieve, I agree.

I brought the Bundle on Steam...

From My Post on the 2000AD Online Forum Games Thread said:
At the moment, (After remembering that I read about this MOD in a gaming magazine!) and since I had purchased a bundle of the Civilisation Complete Edition (No I didn't really, I brought Civ 5 bundled with the two or three games that came before it in the same series.) I also brought Beyond Earth

Anyway, I am interested in getting this Faerun Mod (Don't know why it hasn't been translated to English!) to work on Civ 5. It's supposed to and it's based on fantasy Advanced Dungeons & Dragons world belonging to Forgotten Realms. If you played that popular table top role playing game (I just mentioned!) in the during a large chunk of the early 90's. Then you will know what I'm talking about.

I have already downloaded and extracted the mod files into the game. I does need the God's and Kings expansion to work and I have had two or three games already.

It's not as impressive as I though it would be. I'm not even sure it's on the bonafide map of Faerun and the time line used B.C. and A.C. despite being set in a fantasy world.

Well, at least it's for free.
