I'd read that FDev have improved HGE spawn rates with the recent updates but I haven't needed mat's so I hadn't bothered investigating until just now...
I need Potato Radios so I'm looking for HGEs from factions in Boom.
No problems there.
Honk, twiddle the FSS and locate 5 or 6 HGEs in LHS 20, some from factions in war and some from factions in Boom.
There's 3 Boom HGEs close together, around 25kLs away, but they've got long timers on them so off I go.
Drop into the first HGE, scoop the mat's and jump back into SC.
I've got my nav-HUD filter set to display only signal-sources.
I look at my nav-HUD and target the nearest remaining USS - which should have told me something was amiss since it shouldn't have been a USS since I'd already FSS'd it.
I fly toward it and... it's a Distress Call.
Awhatnow?!
Back to the FSS and it seems, from memory, like all the USSs are in similar (?) places but they've been randomised.
Now there's a Distress Call and an an Encoded USS near me and the HGEs are 25kLs behind me.
I head back to the nearest Boom HGE and the same thing happens.
Scoop mat's, jump back into SC and everything is a USS again - as in requires scanning again and they're all different to what they were before.
Is it just me or is anybody else getting this?
I mean, presumably I could still just farm the poop out of a single HGE if I wanted to but I'd like to play the game as intended, if possible, but if the game's going to Bait & Switch me I'm not going to bother.
I thought the idea of the "new" HGE system was to give players more agency.
I can choose to collect whatever HGEs are nearest me or I can choose to make the effort to travel to ones that are more useful.
If the game's just going to randomise them every time I jump into SC, that rather defeats the object of the exercise and I might as well just go back to waiting for random HGEs to spawn sequentially.
