Anyone else trying to G5 everything before the change?

Pretty happy about trying to G5 everything after watching yesterdays live stream. What a horrible waste of players time that new system is...

My feeling is that a high end g5 mod will be far easier in the new system.

The only thing I am thinking I might do is some more g1 long rnage rail guns with cooling secondary. Probably wait for beta though to see if it is worth it.

What do you use on PA/APAC ? Rails I use the G1 long range with super cool secondary. But I'm curious about APAC.
For PA and APA I use focused mod (desired is get 2ndary reduction on produced heat and high projectile speed ... distributor less draw is possible too). I need around 10-15 rolls per weapon to get nice modding.

Cool thx. Focused with cool secondary sounds neat. I moded a few rapid fire APAC but jitter kills it.

It's a shame we are limited to storing 60 modules, though I guess I can store some on ships.

I am likely to G5 some modules (without really caring for results) as a leg up on each module, if the system goes in as currently printed.

I will have to make a list of modules for the new Chieftain too, and get a G5 roll for each of them. I really can't fathom why the devs would introduce such an obvious craft and trash mechanic.

I get that the Engineers is meant to be a progression, but it already is: You progress in your unlocking of the different engineers, and you progress by ranking up each Engineer. Adding progression to every single module you want to Engineer is simply insane - and most certainly not my idea of fun and rewarding game play.

This is a very good idea, I also need to buy a Corvette and do that and an FAS. *cry*

What's the module fit for the Chieftain?

I like the new system. I've done thousands of modifications, 99% of them were a waste of my time. 1% some nice gems. Just too much grind and lottery.

I am going to be using teh enw system as it looks less grindy and more rewarding, especially with the materials broker thrown in as well.

Yeah I reckon I will quickly be able to improve almost all of my current G5 rolls in the new system :) However if I had to start from scratch, and follow the new G1 to G5 progression, it would take me MUCH longer to reach the level of my current good-enough-G5's. All in all I reckon the new system will be pretty punishing for casual players who just want an OK G5 roll.

For those wanting to max out everything the new system should be a considerable improvement.

MAx cooling secondary on G1 is under 10% iirc. If you want a decent secondary under the current system, but not spend those insane G5 long range mats, G4 is a good middle ground.

In the new system you will need 3x4=12 rolls just to reach G5, for every single module. Then you can start increasing your G5 mod by subsequent rolls. Getting one G5 roll on every module now saves you the grind from G1 to G5 for however many modules you have. In my case that is about 12 x 70 = 840 rolls, all with different materials and blueprints compared to a G5 mod.

There only one problem if I understand concept rigth.
Your G5 won't become much better ... while under new engineers your try to get best result on g1 and once stratified with it... you simply put trough to G5 were you guaranteed get better module over the previous roll.... so in the end better module then just rigth away on G5

I have a G1 or G2 class 2 rail with about 12 heat (as opposed to the normal 20, so about 40%) so it's more than 10%.
Screenie of G1 with over 12% heat reduction if you can, please. I've rolled hundreds and never got more than 11% heat reduction. Even if it's g2 that would still be interesting, as 40% is much higher than I thought possible for g2. Cheers!

I'll have to wait until I'm home, but I'll try and get one.

A grandfathered G5 module however crappy it is will be downgraded to a maxed-out G4 module if you decide to re-roll it under the new system. So there is nothing to lose at all.
You just do some additional G5 rolls in the new system and you have a god-rolled G5.

That is precisely it :) My middle of the road G5 modules (for most of them I just took the first result I got), will be converted to top tier G4 modules in the new system, and I can then start rolling G5's which should quickly surpass my old mods.

If I hadn't done any of this I would have had to start at G1 for every single module (around 100 modules on my 6 most used ships), and I honestly think I would just give up.

I will be spending the next few weeks attempting to G5 absolutely everything I can, locking down my builds as much as possible, and just doing a single G5 roll for my chosen mod. It will save me an INSANE amount of work later.

On my Corvette I have G1s at -27 and -33%.

Good way to do this is to just buy a/another FAS and fully engineer it, because they share so many internals.
