Anyone found deep space regions with signal sources?

List deep space regions with signal sources. Sightings collected here!

Greetings intrepid explorers!

Has anyone encountered any signal sources while exploring in deep space far out from the inhabited bubble?

With the recent UA shell discovery around Merope, any deep space systems/regions with signal sources might be worth investigating.

Signal sources have been found out there, mainly Salvageable Wreckages. We are trying to gather the general regions and systems they are found, in case that they reveal anything useful.

Google spreadsheet available here (viewable online, google account not required to view).

Fancy google submission form, here.

I have checked the odd system for singal sources but most often forget to do so. Whay would I do so having not found anything so far. I'm forever hopeful of finding those pesky aliens that stole my ariel from the front of my Asp. Their out here somewhere....

i encounterd 2 SSS approx 2000ly form home. both times 2 anaconda's and 1 type 9. No clue what they were doing there.. Maybe the had UA's in their cargo holds. no clue.

Now i encounter Salvageable Wreckage so now and then. Guess im to far out now.

They are indeed - it's only a matter of time before we find them commander! :)

.. or they find us?

Interesting, well depending on the COMMs chatter there's a possibility it may have been a UA transport.

Can you remember roughly the area you found them in?

I'm trying to gather deep space locations that signal sources are found in and their types, and see if there's anything interesting in common locations where they pop up.

I've not seen any SSSs out here (I did go over to the Hyades last week to check out the UA sphere, and found a few of those); last thing I've found on this trip was a wrecked Eagle with a single small data cache, about 8 Kylies out from Sol.

I have been over 30K LY out all the time since 1.4 dropped, and no sign of anything. Not that it would make any sense out here - I have not seen a first found flag for a couple of months, so to suddenly come across signs of human activity would not look right.

This one was just under 9000 Lys out.

Those containers ought to be legal salvage...and I'm wondering why we can't have something similar equipped on our ships.

In other words, if we bite the big one on an exploration trip, we ought to be able to go salvage the data within a certain time period.

Yeah, if you draw a line between Sol and Herschel 36, it was about 3/4 on the way to Herschel 36. in the Darkzone between the spiral arms.

I was very surprised to find this one, around 4000 LY from New Yembo, headed back from my trip to the Core. I nearly missed it - it must have spawned just before my FSD powered up because it only entered my field of view after it had engaged.

I was cautious about it because the last time I encountered something like this it was a trap set by a wing of NPC Pythons that kicked my behind. I was relieved to find it was genuine but still I left the system pretty damn quick to continue on my way. I was in no shape for a fight - my lasers had failed completely.

I was annoyed that the small exploration data cache as it turned out to be was illegal salvage. Not that it mattered - I was a hair's breadth too slow on slamming on the brakes a few systems on from that and ended up damaging the cargo hatch as I fell out of supercruise. The canister of data was lost!

The combination of those sentences struck me as a little funny.

If our ships, upon destruction, dropped canisters of Exploration Data, then wouldn't we become more attractive targets for pirating? Especially to other explorers who might also enjoy a little piracy on the side?

And if so, would you still want those to be Legal Salvage?

Laughter aside, as to why we can't have these (I think I covered why we might not want them up above), something like this would be the ONLY persistent player-generated content of its kind in the game. That there is absolutely nothing else like this in the game suggests that there would be plenty of technical hurdles right from the go.

Nice pic! Thanks for the info, yeah so far only have data points for Salvageable Wreckages. Hopefully other things show up over time.

OK thanks, have added it to the list.

Perfect, thanks! I appreciate you posting the full system name here before you got back to sell exploration data. I figure it'll be hard to get exact systems, but every one gathered will be useful. Cheers!

Ah well, nice try in bringing back the salvage. The more valuable thing from my perspective is that it appeared at all. Are you able to report the region?

Nice one commanders! Maybe something will come of this, maybe not, but many thanks for your reports so far :)

Err...umm...didn't do a very good job of thinking that through, did I?

Never mind.

Unfortunately no, not with any degree of real accuracy. I was about 4000 LY core-ward of New Yembo when I saw it though I did see a couple more after that on my way to New Yembo.

Okay, that was really unexpected. I see I'm not the only one who encountered salvage wreckage. I found one at 3000ly away from the bubble, at PHYLUR LJ-P B22-0 (-2600:576:1980).

Great, thanks for the report! I'll add this to the list. 3000 LY is a decent way out.

Last night I was floating around the Vela Dark Region, and came across a single system with 4 wreckages in the space of 40min or so of me being there. Not sure if the spawn rate was important, and wasn't too far away from Sol (only 1000 LY away), but added it to the list anyway. Would be interesting to find one much further away that has a similarly high spawn rate.

Edit: Added captures to the post as evidence of find.
Screenshot_0002.jpgScreenshot_0003.jpgScreenshot_0005.jpgScreenshot_0006.jpg

Would be great to catch one past the 10,000 LY mark :)

I've just made a 10k journey back since update but don't think I came across any further out than 2k-3k from edge of populated space. But thought it was something different to do so I've sold my data & heading on a round about course on edge of populated space back to lembava via pleadies(?) nebula. Anyone know if escape pods are worth anything, got a few of them.. says they're occupied, not sure if I fancy a cargo full of corpses, unless they're alive & waiting to give me a decent reward! Dreaming of finding the Antares!

Actually it might be a fun addition to the game, if it was more than just a floating convenient can of loot from the wreckage. If we had to spend time exploring wreckage for useful salvage, data cans could be one such thing to grab.

It should require some time and effort (and perhaps even skill) to do so, so it's not just another punch'n'loot mechanic as we see in a host of MMOs.

:D S

They're only worth a little, which seems like a shame. Life is cheap in our dystopian galaxy!

I like the idea of logging the far out wrecks and signals, I haven't seen any recently and I've been flying round in circles about 13 - 14 Kylies out from home.
