Anyone found deep space regions with signal sources?

Found a wrecked Anaconda with a small data cache ~9K LY from SOL. System: TRAIKEOU NI-T D3-78
I've found 6 caches on my outbound trip so far (2 Large & 4 small). I will continue to search for them as I continue my exploration. It seems to be interesting that I find small caches in the wreckage of such a large ship...
I hope FD changes these SW so that the items are not stolen. For the exploration data caches, it would be best if you could just download it to your ship and sell it as exploration data when you got home. That way it wouldn't take up any storage space.

Currently 12kly away from Sol, wreckages stopped to appear, last one was at 7300... Maybe there is a cut-off point after all...

The cut off point needs to be much closer to the edge of human space tbh.

Finding ships, cargo and wrecks so far from populated space is a bit unrealistic given the amount of stars/systems there are.

Great, thanks for the report! Added to the list :)

I agree it would be nice to be able to analyze the canisters in some way rather than have to scoop and bring them all the way back to the bubble.

Perhaps some kind of data extraction mod that can analyze any data caches you find in your hold (like a "refinery" module of sorts for data caches). This could then create a finders bounty entry in your transactions tab that you could claim in a similar way to claiming combat bounties.

Maybe, though it might also be that it's not only distance from Sol, but also distance from the nearest POIs such as nebulae or similar.

Hopefully the more data points we get, the more it'll become clear :)

Well, it might not be too far fetched. Looking at the points on the ELW map Nicomak put together, there's a definite concentration of data along common travel corridors.

I wonder if rather than just a simple cutoff from Sol, they're also using visited system routes or POIs (or rather, the nearest distance to) to determine spawn rate.

At the very least, what I'm hoping to see from the data we gather here is to establish whether finding a particular type of signal at some distance X is significant or not. If it's out of the ordinary, then it could mean there's an area worth exploring in more detail.

Just found a Small Survey Data Cache canister up at BLU EUQ UH-I B11-0.
That's 4.252LY from SOL. I've seen 3 more wrecks at approx the same distance from Sol over the last days so there's a lot of these to salvage, this "far" out!

I was too late at making a screenshot, did catch it though.

Just found a large survey data cache, not sure of the system, counting backwards from CL, I'm guessing Smojue RI-S d4-3, which is ~3100LY out.
It's in my hold, is it worth bringing back? Not sure how the law works anymore, if scanned will I get shot up?

Thanks! Will add those to the list :)

I found one of these this morning! I found this thread from a Google search. I actually logged out in the system so I'll post the location tonight when I get back.

When I was returning recently, I paused just before 10 Kylies out and just after 10 Kylies out and flew around for ten minutes or so to see if any wrecks turned up; they didn't. I wasn't prepared to wait around for longer at the time, but I may fly out soon and can check at 1 Kylie intervals out from Sol to see what I see.

Hey, great idea! That would be very interesting. Looking forward to your findings.

Great, thanks! Added to the list :)

I just saw Sapce Salvage whizz by me in HYPOAE AIN SZ-G D10-0. I didn't bother to get it.

Yep no need to dip in and have a look if you don't want to. Even gathering the location / signal type is useful info. Added to the list!

Nice work commanders! I'm not sure how this will all change once 1.5 / 2.0 arrives, but it might also be interesting to track planetary signals too in the case of 2.0.

After reading alot about the salvage being farther out and with me being out from before 1.4 I was quite looking forward to find USS / salvage on my way back. But there was nothing, nada. My first USS/salvage was back in the bubble 3 jumps before reaching my destination-port. Maybe I was just unlucky, though.

Yeah they still seem quite rare, so I guess you just had a bad run of the random number generator on the way back.

Hopefully when we have more unique system data we get we can establish if it's just a simple encounter fall-off the further you're away from Sol, or some other function of location.

We still only have a little over 20 or so unique systems in the data, but so far we have findings around these locations:

The concentrations could just be biased toward places of interest where explorers are more likely to linger around, so it's hard to draw any conclusions from it yet.

Keep your eyes peeled though, we may see a surge of new signal source encounters out in deep space when 1.5 lands.
