Discussion API bugs

Thank you for the opportunity to have a seperate forum thread regarding the API. It means a lot to me and I'm sure to others too.

The main problem with the API is the fact that it sometimes returns totally false data. I'm not talking about off prices. Some stations are being reported as having no market or the API supplies ship/outfitting lists for stations that don't have those facilities. Most obvious is the enormous amount of planetary stations receiving shipyard intel, which is of course not possible since those stations can't technically have a shipyard.

  • This log is only the tip of the iceberg. We filter out a lot already. If EDDB has confirmed that a station has no shipyard, then EDMC discards it already. The most recent entries are planetaries only. This bug is present on orbital as well!

Users with only Horizons and without the base game can't log in


I'm sure that everybody would love to see more enhancements to the API. However, fixing those bugs is most important. I rather give up on a single enhancement if only those bugs get fixed.

OK so I've raised a support ticket (support.frontier.co.uk) with the following text and I will let you know of any reply...


Hi there,


First of all I know that it's going to be pretty tempting to automatically close this ticket with a standard response stating you don't support third party applications but my issue isn't with the third party app, it's that people who bought the game after Horizons came out can not authenticate using the API.


There's a known issue on EDMC's github page where there are lots of examples and there's also a relatively new thread on the Frontier forums too...

That's good. Let's hope we get a satisfactory answer but I'm not holding my breath.

But this is the default reply. There are douzends of replies like this. And nothing got eventually fixed :(
