ANNOUNCEMENT April Update - Coming 23 April 2019

it would be useful to have a reasonable amount of notice and then it to be adhered to when shutting down. I just had a notice flick up in game that I had no chance of reading and then several minutes later get booted. Hopefully the new release is better planned and delivered!!!

Lol - so you missed the 30 minutes of warnings.

never mind - someone always makes that complaint - this time it was you :)

Anyway, on more important matters - bring the hype!

30 minute get out warning just sounded... [excitement intensifies]
Edit: 10 mins... Going offline at 10:00 am by the looks
Edit: 5 mins... Est downtime 8 hours. Stream better start soon :p

Edit: And within seconds, peeps start appearing in the youtube chat, lmao! :D
Relayed into the forums in real time too, I was watching as it happened. True story ;)

If a new Cmdr receives their first promotion while in the beginner's zone, what prevents them from hanging around? I'm assuming they just aren't teleported to the nearest system outside of the zone.

Nothing. Seems they're offered a 'graduation mission' that will take them out of the new(b) zone...

After that, the permit is revoked and they can't get back in. Edit, thus:

  • Once players have gained a rank in Combat, Trade or Exploration, they are offered a 'graduation' mission, which directs them out of the district. If they choose to complete this mission, they cannot re-enter any of the district systems.
    • This also means current, experienced players cannot enter any of these systems

Looks about right. And with limited outfitting and no engineers available to people who deliberately put off taking the graduation missions, new player won't have to worry about getting ganked by engineered murderboats.
If interdictors are available in those systems though, an experienced player in a stock small ship will still be a pretty major threat - just look at what happens to the scoreboards in CQC when a high-ranked player drops in to a game that's otherwise full of newbies for evidence of that!

Twiddles thumbs... Live stream appears to be late, groan :(
Contemplates joining the drag frag fray in the patch notes thread...

Edit: Oh wait, UTC so it should be starting in 10 minutes then...

I'm very curious about how all this works in practice. I assume beginners have some kind of anti-permit that stops them leaving the starter district but can they start that mission in order to leave, buy a murderboat and return as long as they don't actually complete it? :V

Rather than continuously adding to optional slots, which could unbalance ships further. We could add a new section to the ship called ‘software downloads’ (VIA outfitting) exclusively for the ships computer. In addition to COVAS, we can add the new advanced docking computer, programmable limpet control software (for when that arrives), supercruise assist...etc. Just think of the possibilities. \o/

I'd love to have things like autopilots and docking computers added as software. I am pretty sure my phone could manage the advanced docking computer. Having a "docking computer" as a module is so 90s! Or even 80s!

Oh man! Let's make is all too easy for Bots'...
Once Bots have credit cards and can buy paintjobs and ship kits, they can respond to ads. At that point, human CMDR's become the shrinking minority and Fdev's profits go through the roof! I for one welcome our Bottish overlords!x

And I bet it uses more power than our FSD. Everything uses more power than our space-warping FSD :p

I hoping that one day will be filtering in the stored module section
That's a completely mess when you have 120 pcs of stored modules and you are searching for something

BTW its nice to see that we developing !!!
