Ship Builds & Load Outs Are new C4 weapons in the dev roadmap at all?

We now have two ships (the Fer de Lance and Federal Corvette) that sacrifice other hardpoints for class 4.

However there are only two guns that go up to class 4: the cannon and PA, guns that vary in power usage and relative shield/hull damage, but they both fire high-damage slow moving projectiles.

This limits the ships that rely on huge hardpoints - a lot of players end up downgrade the mount.

Where are c4 lasers? C4 frags? C4 rails? Where is anything turreted?

Are more C4 weapons planned or is this extreme lack of variety deliberate?
 
C4 Rails sounds cool. just imagine the gun creating a ball of lighting in the charge time. and then a giant white-purple ZAP and a lighting explosion on where it hit.

Someone also said that in the Horizons launch stream there were talk about being able to craft class 3 multicannons, perhaps that will include more class 4 weapons.

I can't find it for the life of me, but I am pretty sure there was a thread about a class 4 beam in the works I believe.

Someone also said that in the Horizons launch stream there were talk about being able to craft class 3 multicannons, perhaps that will include more class 4 weapons.
I thought crafting was just going to tweak stats of existing weapons, not create whole new classes.
 
I also heard mention on the livestream that things were in the works but no ETA yet.

Problem with railguns and other weapons that are limited to smaller sizes is balance. The class 3 variants apparently were exceptionally overpowered and if the damage or other aspects were nerfed it was too painfully obvious and was considered more of a detriment to leave in (from what I gather reading Dev comments).

iirc crafting may introduce a few new things...
 
The materials synthesis appears to up projectile weapon performance (m-cannon, cannon, rails, plasma) by 15 or 30% but the materials for the enhanced performance aren't easy to find, so far I've enough "common" materials for around 20 m-cannon standard reloads and that's taken over 5 hours of SRV driving (huge fun as long as you don't crash!)

There's certainly potential with synthesis but I'm not sure that many players would invest the time required to collect the materials for high performance ammo.

It also doesn't fix the problem. I don't think we need the cannon and PA to do more damage, I think we need weapons that fire something other than really slow moving projectiles with a really slow reload and long wait between shots.

Also hours of SRV driving for 20 reloads is a waste of time.

They should be - ships like the FDL and FC sacrifice about half their firepower for the huge mount/s. Compare the FC to the Anaconda or Cutter and the PA should be equivalent to about 3 mediums - three medium rails would be devastating.
