Are the Python and Anaconda still the best multipurpose ships?

I stopped playing almost 2 years ago, when the latest ship released from FD was the Fer De Lance. I wonder if my Python or the Anaconda are still the best way to go to do different things out there, regarding to:
- cargo capacity
- shields
- jump range
- combat capabilities (for defense or assassination missions)

Thank you.

Python is the best all rounder, you can't wrong with the Anaconda. In my opinion the Cutter far excels over the Anaconda, however it is locked behind a military rank restriction.

The Python can land on medium sized landing pads, which gives it a lot of flexibility in terms of trading and mission gathering/completion. It hasn't been dethroned as the most flexible ship. If that's all you're looking for, then look no further than a Python.

It's when you want to specialize that the Python loses its luster a bit.

Basically this. The Cutter's better than the Conda if you can be bothered to get it but there's so going wrong with the Conda if you can't. And the Python is ideal for more or less everything. It's just a slightly slower, much larger Cobra. And the Cobra is King so there's that.

Isn't the Cutter limited by its jump range, compared to the Conda? What does it do better than the Conda? Cargo, speed, and...?

Most ship flaws can be rectified by engineers so just pick a ship you like and show it some engineer love.

Cutter and Asp are my current goto ships. It USED to just be Python 95% of the time.
Maybe if the Mission rewards go back up, my favorite Python might get a look in. Conda is sitting somewhere kitted out for mining.

The cutter is not good as explorer, IMHO the best multipurpose ships are the one he posted, the post is based in the ships that can do anything! cargo, mining, explore, trade, in this case the best of medium ships is the Python, and for larger the Annie, but the ASPX is not bad at all for medium!

I'll agree to disagree regarding the Cutter.

The Python is a decent all-rounder for smaller pads etc... The conda is still the best all-rounder on a price/value curve i think ... The cutter is all well and good but more expensive base price ... plus i find the cutter unsatisfying to fly without being spec'd up .... the conda i can strip down and it doesn't feel like a total tub

AspX and python here

As a multi-purpose ships go, those are perfect, and you can fit them out to suit the mission in hand and they can land anywhere,
Anaconda.... sorry but mine has been relegated to a mining ship, mainly because it can carry a huge number of limpets

Anything else....... rank locked (boo) or more suited to combat.

Python? Hell no. It's a bad choice for combat and a terrible choice for exploration.
Anaconda? Hell yes. Highest DPS of the game, decent shield and tons of SCBs to carry, highest hull of the game, easy to handle after a short training. Best jump range, great cargo mover, can carry fighters.

Well before i hit the big elite hiatus, i spent 95% of my time in asp/python. I have cutter/conda/clipper but damn there's nothing asp/python can't do!

Don't listen to anyone, except me. Got that?

Ok, best multipurpose ship in the game is the Cobra Mk4. Its got a cheap rebuy and can do anything... well, its a bit sub-par for combat, and it needs some engineer love, but trust me, once you go CM4, you'll never go back ;)

I believe so, yes.

The Python is the do-it-all in the medium size range and it is the only ship of that capacity that can dock at all stations.
It is the king of all trades and the best choice if you want to do missions and ranking, because you can accept all missions and go everywhere.
I hope we will eventually see some competition in this niche, but currently the Python is the one and only choice.

The Anaconda is the Python of the large ships. It is excellent at trading, combat and exploration.
Of course it can't dock at outposts which makes it less suited for missions and ranking.

For large volume bulk trading there is no better ship than the Cutter. It is fast, has a huge cargo hold and a decent jump range after engineering. I have not used it for anything else yet. Some say it is a good combat ship too.

I also have the Corvette. I am still trying to like it. Can't say much about it yet. I hate those 2 ill-placed huge weapons at the back.
