I think I have isolated this flickering... It was a hover effect competing with other fx layers. Testing an adjustment nowAfter installing the UI ED, my screen started flickering; it stopped after I uninstalled it![]()
-If it is the app.., that is now fixed & i am pushing the update shortly! As for an actual monitor flickering, I am unable to reproduce it on the 3, different monitors i have at my disposal
Obviously, I don't expect anyone to go through the trouble of trying this... But if we can narrow it down to a specific trigger, I should... ...be able to isolate the offending code and fix it
Common triggers include:
- WebView2 hardware acceleration interacting with the GPU driver.
- Windows Multiplane Overlay (MPO), especially with transparent or layered windows.
- G-Sync/FreeSync/VRR switching behavior.
- HDR or automatic refresh-rate changes.
- Hardware-accelerated overlays from Discord, Steam, Xbox Game Bar, NVIDIA, or AMD software.
- A marginal DisplayPort/HDMI cable exposed by increased GPU/display activity.
- A GPU driver briefly resetting or changing power states.
- If flickering occurs only while AURA is open, AURA may be triggering a WebView2/GPU-compositor problem.
- If it continues after AURA is completely closed—including its tray/background process—AURA’s UI is unlikely to be the direct cause.
- If it begins immediately after installation without launching AURA, check whether AURA starts automatically or leaves a background process running. Installation alone should not alter monitor settings or drivers.
- Exit AURA completely and confirm Aura.exe and its backend sidecar are gone in Task Manager.
- Temporarily disable G-Sync/FreeSync/VRR for AURA or globally.
- Turn off HDR and test at a fixed refresh rate such as 60 or 120 Hz.
- Disable Discord, Steam, Xbox Game Bar, and GPU-vendor overlays.
- Test another DisplayPort/HDMI cable or port.
- Cleanly update the GPU driver
