Bad Night for the Servers: Any News from FD?

I'm rather surprised there seem to have been no Dev posts this evening.

Has there been any official news on any other channel (twitter/fb/reddit)?

I have no idea what percentage of players have been affected, but multiple forum posts suggest the number is not small.

With half of them (us) losing cargo while the other half try to resist the temptation to (apparently) make millions, I would have expected some word...

Yes, losing Cargo is one thing. I found some progenitor cells and sold them at the black market. 1 Minute later they shown Up in my cargohold again and again and again....

Its holidays here in the uk

wait for tomorrow id say is a safe bet

Yep - I know.

I'm just thinking that the longer it goes on, the more horrific it is going to be to sort out and the less chance that they can leave anyone feeling happy about whatever they have to do about it...

And it was all going so well! (on the server front...)

Correct me if I'm wrong... But I believe that it's new years day everywhere... Not really helpful to this discussion... But with broken servers and no support to be found... all that's left is trolling.

ye unplayable and a nightmare losing cargo etc etc ... flying for hours to not be able to complete . then fly back to find its in your cargo bay.. what a pain .. dont want this to often ... it will kill it for me..

its a good thing i'm not trying for that race to elite stuff... solo mode has been my only saving grace the last day to day-and-a-half... erratic npc behavior during combat, disappearing cargo after turning in delivery missions only to get a server error and mission still in my to-do list, inability to FSD out of a combat area because my drive freezes at 70% or so. these are all problems i've had in open. playing in solo has offered a more forgiving experience, but a broken experience none-the-less... oh well, when FD's hangovers all subside, i'm sure they'll get on the ball.

I was doing a trade transaction when the servers completely crashed at 2230 UTC... I still haven't been able to load in. I'm really hoping that my character file hasn't been corrupted or some such.

Yes.

I realise that it's not as if this were Mastercard or Hailo, with huge real-life consequences for the customers involved if the servers go haywire - but I would still expect FD to have engineers on call 24/7 for situations like this.

And most importantly - some kind of communication.

After all, the consequences for *them* could be serious...

Devs are probably still recovering from the 31 december, it's probably going to get fixed tomorrow.

The server(s) will be rebooted in about 4 hours either way for the daily reboot... which is 7am where FD is. I would not hold my breath hoping for anything sooner.

I mean, we could use this as a grand opportunity to make a push for the need of an offline mode... But most people wont do that.
