Because why not?

So I'm bimbling around in the bubble, working on getting all the engineers unlocked. Next target, get friendly with the Alliance so that Bill Turner will talk to me.

I spent last night running missions in Alliance space but the reputation bar just moves so slowly and I've been back in civilisation for more than two months now so I'm feeling the itch.

So maybe I'll just take a wee run out into the near black, pick up enough data to make the Alliance love me and hopefully the Party of Yoru peeps I need to get friendly with too.

Now I've got Pipe (Stem) and (Bowl) sectors receding in my rear-view mirror, I've barely left and everything's still tagged but it just feels so good to be back out.

OK, so (Unapologetic) Lifer For Rock'n'roll is a fully armed, A-graded Python but thanks to the lovely Ms Farseer she jumps farther than Silence Unbounded in stripped down exploration set up did when she took me round the galaxy. And I really don't want to turn round.

So I'm going to massively overshoot my original aim of 'enough data to get friendly with a couple of factions'. I'm going to go and see Sgr A* for the first time.

In a fully tooled up Python. Because why not?

I'll add post cards of pretty sights as I find them...

Have a great trip! I thought about heading out again as well. Left Colonia when new bases started popping up - they didn't need me anymore I reckon. Been working on Federation rep for a while flying passengers in an Orca and doing other missions in a Ferdelance. Might skip over and grab an Anaconda for another trip round the galactic core, though. The bubble is so full of people...

:D S

enjoy!

a friend of mine did his sag a* trip pre engineers in a combat ready vulture with a fuelscoop, as the station had a class 4 fuelscoop when the idea hit him ... and the scnanners, too.

Good luck CMDR, having suicided halfway to Colonia, I have utmost respect for real explorers, and the stranger the ship, the better the stories.

58 jumps to the first virgin system of the trip, 59 to the second. ~1200ly to no tags, and 6 partially tagged systems before that (>10%). Dipping couple of hundred ly below the plane at 900ly out on an otherwise due North from Sol is my only concession to trying to avoid the beaten trail. (64 to the third, 65 to the fourth).

Are tags you can claim in an hour or two not supposed to be becoming hard to come by?

Yeh crazy thing is I found not one, but two Earth-Like Worlds in 2 different systems unexplored only 1,500ly from Sol... in the general SE direction... but its almost impossible to find an unexplored system 65,000ly from Sol... lol.

You mean unexplored?

65k is changing these days. The sectors around Beagle are starting to look like tagged NY subway cars.

That's the way to do it!

Leave 'em weeping and never look back.

Take a good audio book. It helps.

Why not, indeed.

More power to your elbow.

I came back from SagA recently and it only took three visits to the engineers to make me want to go back out... No grind there if you're in it for the sights. Enjoy.

Postcard from the roof

After such a long time spent around the rim I've gotten used to the core being a line across the sky in the distance, a bit wider in the middle but definitely a line.

At 2.3kly up and approaching the centre it's a bit odd to have it laid out below me, a carpet of stars.

Stunning views up here though.

I didn't even realise you were back in the bubble Cmdr...and now you've gone again ;)

You could always join us on Macros Black's circumnavigation of the galaxy...oh, right you've already done that :)

(Cant believe you've never seen SagA )

A mere 2kly from Sgr A* now (53kly travelled to get here, I've not really taken a direct route...) and so many stars now, not to mention the corpses of dead stars.

I caught this black hole at just the right angle to use it as a telescope for a close up on the Andromeda galaxy.

Half way point of the trip, Sgr A* finally visited a mere 796kly and 36.5k systems into my exploration journey. Nearly a third of a year spent in game when it's not yet three years since I first launched the game in Gamma (Dec-14) something we'll just not talk about.

It looks so innocuous from here, but this picture is taken shortly after I jumped into the gap in between scooping from the smaller star with my heat climbing and my dashboard sparking as I accelerated away. Avoided damage, but it was close.
