Why there is a slowing down FPS in space station ? Too many things to be managed in the space station ?

Yeah lots of little separate things to render and animation and also more dust / atmospheric effects. Space is easy to render. So they optimize frame rate / quality for combat in space and naturally space stations are going to suffer then.

That means Frontier devs have a lot to optimize. Which is great news, actually. It means my GTX 750 Ti will probably go up from the current ~30fps in stations.

Your post was very conservative - The stock 970 outperforms the 780 by a margin, and the OC models out perform the 780ti and match the stock 980...
Its a beast and a steal for the price (comparatively).
AMD are supposed to be announcing new cards today as well. At the start of the month Toms hardware will have a new chart up and a new "best gfx cards for the money" article. which will also shake up their current gfx hierarchy table at the top end. I'm personally upgrading from a 6804gb to a 970 this weekend but I also have a 660 which maxed elite out (except in stations) " 60fps 1920x1080 albeit with reduced draw distance and debris limit.
I'd personally add another $100 and grab a 970 as it should give you better bang for the buck in the long run. I'm planning on one 970 now and another in a couple of months so I can use the sli optimizations with the rift when the drivers support it.

And Frontier delivers! Now I get 45 fps in stations in Beta 2. If this trend continues, I will not need to upgrade my GPU at all
But, on the other hand, this might change once they implement proper anti-aliasing. I don't think the GTX 750 Ti will be able to pull off decent AA in 1080p. But we'll see...
Well, I can't really give you an advice, because this is the first GPU I bought to play games on in about 12 years Having said that, the GTX 750 Ti has served me well. It draws only 60W at full blast, it's quiet and the price was good, too. And it runs ED on high settings in 1080p with 45fps in station.

QFT for a cheap and cheerful card yes and it around the £100 mark give or take a tenner, but I would wait a little longer and spend £50-£60 to get a 760 or even stretch £70-£80 for a R9 285, but that me
£100-£150 GTX 750 TI or certain GXT 760 brands, if you can push a little more an AMD R9 285 is very good card for it price, if you push to £180 to £200 GTX 770
If you are going to wait a month you might as well wait for the Christmas/new Sales, with that set aside the 770 is cheaper the R9 290 is more powerful, but looking at newegg and overclockers it seems that the GTX 970 is cheaper and a superior card over the AMD R9 290.
I'm currently using a GXT 760 after my GTX 670 conked out, the 760 is a good card, but the R9 285 is a simlar price and is a better card as shown is this article

I did research on various video cards, but along with being up to the job, I was also specifically looking for something from Asus.
Partly because I have an Asus MB and also because Asus are very reliable,
Sadly, I had three non-functioning cards, the last two from Sapphire which was, as I recall an R9.
But please check things out for yourself, You don't spend or even have that much to spend, very often.
