Patch Notes Update Beta - 1.6 and The Engineers (2.1) incoming

I've been retying to decipher this one:
- Replace legacy weapon variants with their defaults, along with some credits and materials to offset the inconvenience
Anyone?

I'm guessing if you had an old overcharge weapon you now got a normal weapon + some creds and mats.

Damn, that is a huge patch, and there's a whole lot of great stuff in there. In particular I can't wait to see the new C&P and market rebalance.

Couple questions though.

These entries were listed under 2.1:
- Mining resources can now create materials
- Materials can be spawned inside signal sources

Seeing how these are space scenarios, how will they affect owners of the base game? I assume non-Horizons players will simply not be able to collect said materials, or are you planning to give them access to Synthesis?

Another strange entry under 1.6:
- Loot items can be awarded from missions

Loot is, afaik, a Horizons-only feature. Does this instead refer to commodities as missiong rewards as mentioned earlier by Frontier, or is it something different?

Well done

For me at least best update in terms of speed of DL and getting into game.

May come to regret this post later:p

Indeed about 4 mins later HS jumps stuck

This is what I get when i click on install:

"Unhandled exception during project update:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

I'm gonna miss that bug... :(

Yeah, I used to switch to my browser while jumping (instead of watching the same animation for the x thousandth time), and the ship would arrive and throttle down. Or if some process popped to the foreground - MySQL updater, I'm looking at you! - it would stop the engine racing off and sending you into a sun.

- Systems that require a permit no longer highlighted in red on the Navigation panel
.
Err, isn't that a backward step? Or is this a case of a typo & the above was an issue now fixed??

- Rebalanced heat efficiency of the Fer de Lance to offset the increased power plant charge
So the FDL will now heat up more? The weapon combinations were limited as it is, with this change will it only be able to run kinetics on the huge mount?
- Replace legacy weapon variants with their defaults, along with some credits and materials to offset the inconvenience
Does this mean that Power Play weapons were removed?
- Increase heat generated per shot on rail guns
- Reduce heat sink ammo by one
It seems like all these changes were made to eliminate the Rail de Lance build but why punish every other possible build with the ship just to eliminate one meta? The ship works fine as it is.

No, they're talking about the original Beta weapon variants (overcharged).

Totally agree, not too thrilled with the SCB / Heatsink changes.

It's pretty clear that FD have had quite a serious scowl at certain min-maxed combat metas.

Shield cell spammers? fewer heatsinks per launcher, scbs now fire singly, not "press the hotkey and every powered cell triggers"

The rail-de-lance? more heat from railguns, decreased heat efficiency of fdl, and did I mention fewer heatsinks per launcher?

IT will be interesting to see what the next meta is going to be :)
