Keep Trying

It hangs on me on the menu screen with message server unconnected only way out is task manager

Funny. I have no such folder in my install dir. I don't even have a 'products' folder in there.

Looks like it's being written in different places on different machines or OS versions. On my Win7 machine with the game installed on the C: drive, the huge files are being written here:

Code:
C:\Users\(yourcomputer)\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments\Products\FORC-FDEV-D-1002\Logs

Screen freezes at the menu and I get my SSD filled up (literally, to 0kb remaining and a crashed OS) with gigs and gigs of:

{22:39:49} packed a parcel with zero letters!
<no log>
original m_schedulingValue=1.000000, requestSchedulingValue=0.000000 letterSchedulingValue=1.000000 resendUrgency=0.000000 to=54.74.29.156:19364 x 9 WIN-UJO7F3XL804
in netlog.

Took the day off to play Beta 2, not managed to play for more than 20-25 seconds in the entire day. Pretty cheesed off at wasting a day sitting here but I guess they are trying to fix it so can't complain too much.

Still getting unconnected and netlog.log getting really big really quick full of the zero character parcels....

cant test if I don't get in

Okay, after completely cleaning my PC of everything Frontier related and doing a fresh install, it's still freezing on the menu screen.

Just wondering, I'm using Windows 8.1. Is this happening to people with OS other than 8.1?

I learned from past experiences NEVER to take a day off on or immediately after a patch day for any game. It's just tears and sorrow. On the other hand, the tutorials were working fine until a few hours ago so what I did was to just load up the hyperspace tutorial and just fly around. It was pretty relaxing.

On topic: I just left the game running (at a frozen menu screen) and went for a smoke.I came back to a 7GB log file

yes im on WIN 7 64 bit and its creating huge log files also

That's a big problem. If I can't jump, I can't really test anything of value. Sure, reporting "I can't jump because it keeps disconnecting me" is kind of beta testing but you can only report the same thing so many times.

It's most likely not OS related or even client related. The server is most likely down or broken in some other way and the client cannot communicate.
The freeze is due to the fact that at each reconnect failure, the client is writing the error down in a log file. It writes so much that the client freezes.

Try in solo mode. I was getting disconnected in Online everytime I was Jumping, but Solo mode was fine. Good for just checking it all out and seeing what's changed. Had quite a bit of fun too.

Yeah but I'm not getting these hug log files in the appdata sub-directories, which is odd :S
