This new Beta is suberb, had a great blast yesterday finding new Unknown Planets and stuff, appreciate that is in its infancy so plenty of room for improvement.
It's certainly shaping up to be an immense game, only "downside" is I'm off on Holiday for three weeks....get back the day before Beta 3 though...which is nice :)

Great work Frontier...keep it up, long way to go yet :D
 
Coming out of cruise speed is a real problem, its been the same from the beginning, can't something be done about it. Having to crash the program or watch a wobbling screen for eternity, very frustrating, have to walk away some times cos its so annoying, please fix it
 
Loading into the game is a problem

Anybody having issues with getting into the game it seem to be taking longer & longer to get into the game.
Is this because there some many player playing now or is it the server?
The issue need to be looked at.:rolleyes:

I agree however less populated systems i have found you can get in to game faster.

Azaban (Eranin) seems to main start point for all players joining the game for first time or when you loose your ship and get a replacement. This needs to be changed with multiple start points that may help ease the servers.
 
Still coming to a conclusion, but thusfar my feelings on the new flight/combat is not good. Seems less interesting. And the adjustment to FAoff feels too harsh.

I'll give it some more time though.
 
Had to come out, cos all I'm getting is that awful spinning sidewinder, come on guys, what you got to do, turn on go for a walk and maybe its on when u return, these are straightforward issues that seemed to be a permanent feature.

Think speed within stations should be limited, i.e. formula 1 pit stops, I enter one station and some idiot coming out at full speed hit me and i loose my ship and a full load of goods, cost me a bomb.
 
Finally got round to trying Beta 2.04 today, the game looks wonderful but for me Beta 1 had far less issues.

In 30 mins of play I have had three freezes/crashes and now just logged out.

Crash1 : dropped out game and generated crash report which I sent
Crash2 : stuck in hyperspace, quite hypnotic but after 5+ mins makes you feel sick
Crash3 : spinning side winder issue

Also the trading proved to be a pain, I cleared my save as I never even got to try Beta 2.03, I had the spinning sidewinder and then read to clear save so did that.

So looking on the galaxy map I found that Wine was trading on my route, filled up with wine, reached destination and got scanned and fined, docked, saw that I could sell it on the black market but wouldnt let me, some auth errors, so hopped to next destination, this was crash 2, after reloading and arriving, docked and tried to sell my wine only to be told auth failed again even though this time its listed under normal stocks.

So now stuck in a sidewinder packed with wine and 44cr and 1127cr fine, wahooo :)

I feel another reset coming on :(
 
Just got to wingrove platform, Styx, cant get a reply from docking, when I looked inside theres no interior, needs sorting
 
Buy Ship bug

Bought my Hauler today. After a Long Time of waiting I sit in my Cockpit and the whole Station was rotating around my Ship. The buildings go trough my ship but no demage.

After a restart everything work as expected.

well thanks guys! i gotta say this has worked flawlessly for me all weekend, loving the game massively now! as an old elite 2: frontier player, it has the similar i love! :)

Change log for update 2.04:

- Fix softlocks when exiting supercruise near to some stations
- Fix crash in preflight checklist
- Prevent server crash when an overlay is being unloaded while it's still in the load queue
- Removed old way of enabling/disabling stars
- Fix missing galaxy map background
- Fix assert in galaxy map
- Prevent missions selecting stations that you cannot complete the mission at
- Only send the next mission progression if the mission is not completed and shutting down
- Fix unable to sell all exploration data
- Do not assign factions to bounties that don’t exist
- GUI and smoke effects have now been made more subtle and glows have been reduced a little on the schematics
- Added 'Disable GUI Effects' option to the GUI shader so no cloudyness, parallax or colour tinting is applied when this option is set
- Added damage stats to all weapons for outfitting GUI
- Fixed malformed resource for repair module
- Increase server send buffer from 32k to 500k
- Allow network configuration file to specify a range of ports for the game to choose from
- Allow the send buffer size on the socket to be adjusted
- Replace a new diagnostic assert in the network code with writing a line into the log file
- Guard against replay attacks for mission accept and mission update
- Fixes for tutorial typos
- Fix for the news feed not showing GalNet on the manually entered new bulletins
- Fix for regenerating already existing ring texture
- Update text for good and bad trade good entries on the news feed
- Added in new news entry for a system bulletin
- Give star models on the system map a wider range of sizes
- Increase the timeout between talkchannel and friends list requests
- Remove misleading reports from server logs
 
Weekend feedback: having skipped B2.00 - 2.03, I have tested 2.04 (all open) for about 5 hours this weekend (divided over sessions on fri evening - sat -sun), with 1 crash and no freezes.

Entering/Exiting SC in (exit in particular) still takes some seconds (n=5-10), but I would say back to B1.03 quality (which gave the best result for me).

Having some GTX500 gfx bugs + friends-commslist desync (all ticketed).

Didn't manage to be grouped in one instance with some friends, despite trying the usual tricks. Hope this critical functionality will come in B3. Did not ticket again due to previous tickets incl network logs.

Looking forward to B2.05 & beyond :cool:

Since upgrading to the latest beta I can't get past a white screen?? It's just a narrow window on my desktop with the word ' elite dangerous client' written in the window bar. Uninstalled everything and redone loaded the small installer but as soon as I hit the play button I get the same thing? I've looked on the drive and I can't see a large application file? Only the launcher? Help!
 
@ Marconi: submit a Ticket for the Techs.

I don't know why but i feel like the space graphics (stars, space color-- is it bluer than before?-- planets?) of Beta 2 look less realistic than in Beta 1... not sure what it is. I think the sound mix for hyperspace is a bit better though.

Unfortunately Beta 2 is slower and jerkier than Beta 1 on my low end PC. I hope the slowness and jerkiiness won't increase further with Beta 3 etc! I had no problems getting into Stations in Beta 1 but suddenly it's a bit of a challenge again for some reason, not sure why... part of the problem is that the PC often doesn't react to my pushing the keys (I'm playing keyboard only-- no joystick or mouse!) until the 2nd, 3rd or 4th push (much more often than in Beta 1). For this reason i also have to get gimballed weapons because i otherwise can't get enough pin point accuracy. (I can get good accuracy playing with only keyboard in other less processor taxing games like Oolite, though).

I wish there was a link to the galaxy map from the Station services screen but the Bulletin board missions are better than before.

P.S. It's great that the sun now zooms up when coming out of hyperspace but i would love it if the same effect was applied to the space stations when coming out of supercruise rather than them just appearing out of nowhere! (it's fine that they are now closer than before). Also the destination lock/coming out of supercruise isn't working as well as in Beta 1 or maybe it's just taking longer?

But all in all, being a huge Elite geek, I'm still lovin the pants of Elite Dangerous!
