Patch Notes Update Beta 2.06 incoming

Anyone else getting an 'unconnected' error in the main menu? My Start button is red and un-clickable. Usually it takes a couple of seconds for it to become active, not this time though. Fingers crossed restarting the client will sort it out.

Umm, just installed the latest win 7 updates and have this issue too, am guessing its more to do with the oodles of netframework updates that win 7 wanted as I was fine last night, am trying to log into a different server instead of 54.75.42.9 but no joy as yet. Launcher seems to refuse to contact another server despite several launcher restarts.

Update KB2949927 refuses to install on my system and I don't know if this is a factor too.
 
Did any of that fix not being able to choose a faction in a zone???

Oh and this:



Sell it first watch how the price goes up for the item you want.

If that is the case the wording needs to change from "Buy for" to "Buy with Trade in" and still list the value you are getting for your old part.
 
I tested 2.06 last night, and found there were improvements in logging into open play. However, It was not a total success in the busier systems i.e. Aulin.

There I attempted to leave SC and drop a Aulin spaceport four times, on the fourth attempt it succeeded. In general I found going into SC to be quite slow, and coming out was failing 50% of the time at a space port. As it was so unreliable I switched back to solo mode after about 45 minutes of play, as I generally could not play effectively in open mode.

In terms of other issues. The Galaxy maps trade indication and commodities present still do not seem to match up. Aulin was showing Progenitor Cells being available. However on docking there, there was zero supply.
 
No change with this supposed patch. Open play still hangs when disengaging. Today it was continuous lag in open play and I didn't even see a single CMDR to blame it on, just erratic ncps either getting blasted by the station or gliding though it as if it wasn't there. One step forward, two back at the moment it seems.

Hi, have you filled out a ticket about your problems. I can grab your email address and send it to the QA team, that way we can try and isolate the problem. Seem to be a few people still suffering from this.
 
For the next version could you delay the release by a couple of days to do extra testing please. B2.05 and B2.06 have not fixed some of the bugs they claim to fix and have introduced new bugs.

The first thing that happened to me in B2.05 was a hang on exiting frame shift - something that has never happened to me before and was supposed to be fixed by that patch.

B2.06 is the first time I've had problems connecting to the Open server and even when I do connect it is unplayable because I can't target anything.

Yes I have raised tickets.

Just know that the developers do look through these forums, and they do look at every single ticket. Sorry for the frustration.

I know you told me this is supposed to be known issue and I was hoping this was fixed since Update 2.06, but I'm still logging into the game and getting a loading screen that just goes on and on when ever I try to start that game.

I was getting this one off all through updates 2.04 and 2.05 only getting to play less than normal. It was like this yesterday morning just before it took a few hours updating. Before which the game claimed that it was 2.06 without bothering to download and install it. So I logged out of the launcher and in to again to uninstall 2.05 and it started upgrading properly. Taking a few hours and it still did the same thing......so I went out for walk for over a hour or so and the screen still had the spinning hologram when I got back.

It's still doing now.

I had a laugh the other night, ncps jumping about for five minutes before they smashed into the wall. Took a screenshot of myself quickly entering the hanger to avoid debris and coincidently a piece flew over at that exact time (in circle). It would have hit me for sure and I sacrificed shields for a cargo rack so would have suffered damage maybe. I have noticed that after a while, debris travels around the barrel wall at a constant height above the pads.

I've sent crash reports, but not a ticket. Scanning the boards usually tells me somebody else already has with any related issue so I just moan, but I'll get into the habit as it maybe machine/OS specific. :smilie:

creating possibility for the pursuit to escape and groups to fall apart.

or are there mechanisms to prevent this?
this seems to me an exploitable thing.
or will hyperspace wakes and trails be visible in every instance?

if you cant track another player allot of game play is lost.
 
Any suggestion on how to force the game to select a new server on the game start screen?

Server 54.75.42.9 has been unconnected for me for the last 3 hours and client will not select any different server address!

Obviously not as long term an issue as others have had with connection issues but am really frustrated atm as I cannot access the game exe files as they are hiding somewhere in c:/Users/username and remain hidden unless I search for them from my computer location.

Thing is it all worked fine last night! Am guessing it may be something to do with the netframework updates I installed earlier.

E2a: Have ticketed this one as others seem to have the same issue though haven't stated which server they are trying to connect to.

In the future it may be helpful to be as specific as possible about where you are encountering the error(s) too. Which loading screen? And is it reproducible with any specific set of conditions? (ie-Solo Online, Group game, or even just the tutorials?)
 
In all prior beta versions, I've experienced many of the same issues other users have posted (spinning sidewinder of death, Cobra explodes right after un-docking, game crashes during supercruise, game hangs when exiting supercruise, etc). All things I'd categorize as critical path for game stability.

However, I played 2.0.6 for about 2 hours last night and didn't have any of the above issues pop up. Game loaded quickly. Supercruise was fast and lag free, while exiting supercruise only had a couple second delay (vs 1-2 minutes). Didn't measure my frame rate, but the game felt smooth and peppy.

For what it's worth here are my system specs...

Windows 7 Pro
16Gb RAM
Intel i7 2600K @ 3.4Gzh
Nvidia GTX 780 x 2 (in SLI surround mode, supporting 3 monitors)
*Game config is using High quality graphic settings

I'm also connecting from the States on 21mbps download speed.

That said, given all the issues I've had to date, I was hesitant to make this post. Will continue playing this evening and see if anything pops back up. Big thanks to the devs and project team for all the hard work!
 
Finally had the chance to play the new update or an hour, including mission run, dog fighting and a little bit of trading.
Happy with it, loaded faster, smooth system jumps, and faster SC exit :) no crash or anything.
 
Absolutely agreed. What Captain Kremmen said about the development process is probably all true and valid - hard to say without an official word from the developers themselves - but there seems to be a severe underestimation about how much damage the graphics bug can do to the success of Elite: Dangerous.

Official Word from hchalkley , a senior developer on ED and the guy behind the netcode.
