"- Permits needed to access systems within excluded regions or specific systems requireing permits (like Sol)"

I can somehow see why you would add that. But what exactly would prevent us from flying there? Is this in any way logical or just gameplay stuff we have to accept and is not explained further?

In Frontier there were restricted systems, like Ross 128 (a prison system) where you need a permit for being able to go there. Usually obtained with specific contracts... they are probably doing a similar thing in Elite:Dangerous. In Sol's case it's probably because EVERYONE would try to visit it, so it would be stressful for the servers (just my guess).

"But what exactly would prevent us from flying there?": probably being interdicted and attacked just after arriving? that's how I would do it.

Anyone else not getting the best of all this because we're stuck with running the Intel integrated graphics on ultra low settings?

I gather it's a known bug that ED won't run on mobile Nvidia cards (eg. mine, obviously, or I'd be jumping for joy along with everyone else), which makes reading about all the wonderful graphical developments pretty depressing. Especially when every other 3D graphics-intensive game works fine. Sorry to the devs but it really takes the edge off all the latest features, for me at least.

Yeah I understand what a permit is, I wonder how this is enforced. What prevents me from sneaking into such a system - technically? "You are not allowed to go there" is not enough for me.

EDIT: Being shot on sight is far more "realistic" for me than being unable to go there.

Wow guys. I like the new entrance to Dahan Gateway!!

Took me two goes to get there. Someone shot me down while I was figuring out why the 'J' key didn't seem to work. Realised that there are individual controls for supercruise and hyperdrive and you need to reset the keys. So I changed the supercruise to 'J' (it was blank) and the hyperdrive to LEFT SHIFT + 'J' (it was 'J').

OMG just saved a suicide!

But I notice it is further back. Have a sneaking worry it will happen again.

True about being about 5-10% behind where it was .... and still very slow ... hey ho! Lucky me, I have the day off tomorrow! Muhahaha ...

Is this a joke? I can't see this happening very often.

I've done this many times to give my mates a boost. From Beta 2 onwards (I think), anything dropped was marked as stolen, so my mates got taken out by security before managing to sell things. It's a nice step in the right direction as far as I'm concerned :)

woweee... much much less stuttering in supercruise and much better fps and graphics overall... (Geforce 560 ti) I used to play with low to medium settings and now game autodetected high settings.

I'm downloading at less than 200Kps. That's the joke. And why wouldn't you be happy for that change? It's the only way to transfer cargo in space, and it always resulted in contraband before...

Because a feature that would make sense is adding it to a dock where you can just pick it up, which was a requested feature.... instead you have to space-scoop it; seems like a lazy way around adding a feature.

Awesome changes already ntoiced in 3.9

You can purchase Trade data on a system
The upgrade options have been improved
higher missions require work to complete (standings)
The first NPC I encountered interdicted me and put a good fight (7k bounty)

Let's go Commanders, so far so good....

Add your own here... 39_zpsd03b9ad8.jpg

An in game explanation would that there some sort interdiction defence network around Sol or other high value systems, with a permit the interdiction network doesn't affect your ship, may be the permit allows you to modulate your drives to bypass the network.

Aww man, my download's at 95% but it's just not moving. Guess I'll have to call it a night and try again tomorrow :(

Can't you get AWS cloud to assign more bandwitdh or something? ... this is painful, because you promise so much and, and ... and it's late .
