Better comms please

Was trucking between stations when.somo e commed me asking about trade routes,.coming up to my jump station I decided to page him once I left Hyper space.

Comms doesn't allow this, nor does it allow a simple reply unless you target them which is silly.

Not only did I feel rude but it has a impact on players perception of the elite community possibly being selfish and non sociable which can result in a decline of players.

Lets see some comms changes devs...

Apologies if I ignored you. Aka Han5olo

Totally agree. Text chat is ridiculous. The sad part is that you get dropped from a conversation and the other person doesn't know what happened. Hard to imagine how or why this "feature" was allowed to be designed this way. I'd really like to see video comms for those who have the hardware and bandwidth. I just upgraded to 65/65 fiber optic line and I'm sure my hardware can handle a video chat window. After all, who doesn't have a webcam?

Video comms would be a fantastic addition. Although I see alot of complications and red tape with the terms of usuage and bandwidth consumption for others.

Think radio communications. The Dev Diary videos very clearly explain that this game doesn't have a lot of massive futuristic tech, just a few key things (like FTL). For the most part, it's like today's technology set in 3300. That's why there's no kind of artificial gravity system on ships smaller than the capital ships and walking around will require magnetic boots. When you're sending someone a text, you have to be in the same system. When you're using voice comms, it has to be in the same system. There's a reason that voice comms sound like old school radio transmissions with pops and crackles and beeps.

Consider texting someone on your smart phone and, in the middle of the conversation, they lose signal or go out of their service range. S**t happens.

Personally, I am absolutely ECSTATIC that there's no stupid global constant-babbling channel like in World of Warcraft and so many other games. These sorts of things invariable devolve into mind-numbing levels of immaturity and greatly devalue the game and the entire concept of communications.

Surprise! Space is BIG. It's hard to communicate with someone who is LIGHTYEARS AWAY. Even radio transmissions between Earth and Mars take 20 minutes to traverse the void so Frontier are already doing us a favor with instant in-system comms.

Talking personal hails not global chat. If I want to play without annoying comms I'd go buy a single player game.

Part of the online experience is meeting people, helping people and building communities (for those of us who like to flex our social skills) right now im talking via textinstantly to people across the world without LOS. in 20 years we have gone from Nokia LED phones to smart phones. 2014 we are intergrating technology to help people see and hear, walk. Aka Augmentations. 3300 and you dont think we've advanced??...

Comms need serious improving. Even some official reviews are stating this is a major flaw. I have been hammering this game pre/post launch and haven't had one conversation in game. I constantly search Internet for answers and use these forums to interact with community. For me the game is single player right now and kinda pointless as a multiplayer, which is a shame. As a bare minimum I would have expected a faction channel which players could use to encourage flipping of systems or whatever. You should never be required to leave a game to try and interact with community. From experience sci-fi games have a more mature gamer so chat isn't as juvenile.

I will keep enjoying the game but when I achieve some of the bigger ships etc, it will be hard to keep playing as it's purely solo and radio silence. This game needs a community to interact and orchestrate change in-game and desperately needs better comms.
