Even without the VR headset. My Frame Rate went from 90 in Stations to 50 and in High Res, Asteroids Frame Rate went from 90 to 50.
I was going to say the same. I haven't tried my VR yet but even in flat mode all seem to be more sluggish.

I was going to buy the Oculus Rift S. Because my System had an AVG Frame rate of 90 at the Station, Astroid Feild and 120 in Space. Not sure on the Planets. But my Frame Rate dropped to 50 FPS.I was going to say the same. I haven't tried my VR yet but even in flat mode all seem to be more sluggish.

I tried the Oculus Go my brother had. The only issue is the glasses. This Spring Oculus Rift S should be out. The issue I see on that is the Oversize Headband which would affect my Logitech 7.1 HeadsetIf you are going to buy VR set and you are sure about it then go for it. It'll get ironed out. Elite in VR is amazing!!
Approaching station or landing on a planet is incredible in VR.
Does anyone actually know what the FX quality setting does? I've always assumed stuff like particle effects but not really sure.
Edit - as per Will's post FDev believe it's this setting indeed that's the culprit.
Go into your GraphicsConfiguration.xml file and set EngineTrails to 0, under whichever "FX Quality" setting you're playing under.
It's not a fix but it'll get the frames up while having almost no impact on graphics (except for trails, of course).
