Better VR performance?

1080ti, and combat zones are a stutter fest. Had to dial graphics way down, but it didn't completely fix it for me. "smoother"? Not for me. Quite the opposite

Have you tried playing in Solo? That definitely made a difference for me when I briefly played last night (as in, massive framedrops completely gone), at least sitting docked at Founders.

Haven't tried it in Solo but I've not seen any other CMDRs around (and according to the station only half a dozen or so have passed through).

I've had the opposite, it judders around in stations when it previously ran smoothly (GTX 1080). Haven't tried a planet yet.

Yep, same here. Much worse in VR on my RTX 2080. I've seen this in the past following an update and it usually gets ironed out fairly quickly.

I've got all the latest drivers, NVidia 1070, and I've not noticed much drop in framerate, but it has definitely dropped. However every approach to a station is a stutter filled exercise in graphics freezes. I play almost exclusively in a Private Group that is far flung, so rarely meet another CMDR.
Not tried an SRV yet, but not looking forward to the nausea if the frame rate stays low.

The only SRV I've done since the update was a straightforward salvage mission in a rather boring-looking area, so not that much to strain, but I didn't have any extra judder there.

I have hellish judder in VR to the point it's unplayable, whereas before patch it ran quite smoothly (90FPS most of the time).

Specs are GTX1070 + Oculus Rift, nVidia drivers 417.71

I read on reddit some people experienced improvements with newest nVidia drivers, but only marginally so. The issue mostly remains as long as FX quality is set to anything else than "disabled" (or No, don't remember the exact terminology)

Oculus Rift, GTX 1060, for the first time in two years I'm getting juddering in VR. It's not constant, it comes and goes.

Frontier company motto: If it ain't broke, we can fix that!

Updating drivers will rarely solve a game issue! I update mine maybe once a year or when i get new hardware.
Actually getting the correct drivers can make a huge difference. It is often system and game specific. Newer is most often not better.

Does anyone actually know what the FX quality setting does? I've always assumed stuff like particle effects but not really sure.

Edit - as per Will's post FDev believe it's this setting indeed that's the culprit.

Even without the VR headset. My Frame Rate went from 90 in Stations to 50 and in High Res, Asteroids Frame Rate went from 90 to 50.
