How did you update the launcher? I'd like to preload the update so I cam also play on release, but it seems like i'll have to wait until after the release to d/l this update?

When I say the launcher, I literally mean the launcher. The game update itself is not yet available.

Ah OK, thanks for clarifying, i thought i was missing something. Although my launcher still says an update is required, but if the update isn't actually available, nothing i can do.

I suppose for the future it might be nice if us PC players can preload like the console players do. (my internet is not amazing, so it's really doubtful i'll be able to finish the update tonight, so much for booking time off to play a new update ey?)

Only Commander Thrust (from Bradford) gets to preload on PC.

Unfortunately, bitter experience has taught that you take off the day AFTER the Update to play the new stuff for the first time. Saves a lot of frustration.

If you close the launcher and reopen it. It will allow you to update it.

I don't mind working towards something but when developers purposefully keep adding to the grind a sane adult asks "Why ?".

Working toward something needn't be a grind though - I'm working toward Fed/Imp ranks to unlock permits/ships, just taking on missions and it'll all come together soon, and I'm not 'grinding' , same with engineering and mats, I'll get them in due course :)

I suppose it depends on outlook, my 'in good time' is not likely to be the same as anyone elses, as I won't continue to repeat doing the same thing 'ad nauseum' just to make things happen quicker :)

Along with words and phrases such as "soul crushing", "outrage", and "shame", I think the word "grind" has been over used in so many different ways so as to become nothing more than a filler word with no actual meaning or implication.

grind is a word used by people who want to faff about with toys as opposed to actually playing a game.

Somehow I fail to see the differnce, elite is a grind fest only because it has no other content, although that is slowly changing for the better with more points of interest that can lead toi personal quests being introduced into the game, it's a huge, empty galaxy atm but more storylines are being introduced, games are toys, things that are designed to occupy periods of boredom.

Always said it about this game, could be awesome but has no content, still like it though, saying this as a player that has engineered nothing and is dissapointed in certain nerfs that force a grind.

I think that's something that's entirely relative. Yes, the game needs more content, I completely agree there. But in terms of the game being a grind, I really think you just have to "grind" doing what you think is "fun". I went from a Sidey to a 'conda (and a few other ships) in about a month doing everything from bounty hunting to trading to mining and exploring. As soon as I felt like what I was doing was a "grind"... I stopped. I then went and did something else I found "fun", wash-rinse-repeat.

Again though, I really do agree on the content side. At least 3.3 is bring a few new mechanics and some story/lore to the table, along with some bug fixes... but the game is still lacking. Regardless, it's fun as hell.
