News Beyond - Chapter Four - Beta Update (Week 2)

With tomorrow's beta update, you'll be able to test the following:

Great stuff, thanks for the update, Will!

Along with the mining/squadron features being unlocked, will the updated beta include bug-fixes and changes based on the feedback from Week 1 as well? If so, will there be a reasonably detailed change-log so that we can perform targeted testing of any fixes?

Thanks :)

Perfectly is a little strong especially given the tuner works back to front, but that quibble aside.

I'm using an X52 Pro and had the tuner in the FSS mapped to my throttle. Not sure what you mean by "tuner works back to front" though. When I throttled up, the tuner moved to the right, and throttling down moved it to the left as I would expect. I'm guessing you wanted it the other way around?

But I've now changed to using the 4-way D-Pad under my index finger on the throttle to tune because the analogue input would cause a drift in the tuning unless it was perfectly centered. The digital buttons seem far easier to control (although the analog input was faster).

What I'd really like, and which has been suggested my others, is a 1:1 mapping of an analog input to the tuner. So throttle at maximum would map to FSS tuner at far right and throttle at minimum would be FSS tuner at far left. Of course this should reversible for those who prefer that.

Lots of size 8 goodies to be found... getting ready to equip my sidey with size 8 FSD, power, distrib and fuel tank to go visit the far out regions

Almost like FD just added all the modules up to size 8 at some point in the past, whodathunk.

Anyway - #whataboutsomepatchnotes ;)

I also had tuner mapped to the throttle on my Thrustmaster and thought it was pretty good, then I was reading on the forums where somebody had it mapped to the twist on thier X52....so I thought I would try it......it is simply (expletive deleted) brilliant mapped to twist, I will never go back to throttle.

Hmm, I was thinking of trying that, but have been sticking to kb/m for now - will have to try 'twist tuning' before the muscle memory sets too hard [up]

It works really well for me - also added some deadzone to stop minor movement on the twist from sending the pointer off 'target' - click the + button on the scanner entry in the bindings list :)

For those having mapping issues using a Joy Stick etc... not sure if you have realized, but you can map to an axis or button (POV) etc...

I have movement in the FSS mapped to stick hat, so I can move around and set tuner without moving hand from stick!

It used to take me two hands to do that, one on throttle, one on stick, it's now all one hand action.

It wasnt fine. The energy tuning slider didnt work on any of the 3 axes i bound it to in any kind of usable manner. Others on the forum as well as yt streamers have mentioned similar behaviour. Do you work for frontier?

I don't work for Frontier Development, I mapped the tuner to the rudder control on my HOTAS X throttle handle and it works fine. Many other people have mapped it to the "twist" axis of the joystick and it works fine aswell. There are numerous control configurations that make it work, so although I'm sorry you and other people are having a hard time to make it properly work, you can't say it's not working or that everybody who says it's working is a Frontier Dev employee [mad]

Great idea, man. I was using controls from bothe the throttle handle and the stick, but you just reminded me that controls in FSS mode does not overlap to standard cockpit controls, so i can use just one hand.
i'm going to try that when the new beta goes live (if only they would let us download the client while the servers are updating, it would be much more time efficient)
